Zero Punctuation Takes a Trip Through the E3 Trailer Park

Today marks another in a series of increasingly frequent divergences from the usual Zero Punctuation format. This week, instead of the usual game review, Yahtzee Croshaw runs down some of the more memorable trailers to come out of this past E3. As usual though, he infuses his commentary with a dose of reality amidst the blunt humor. The main message here is to not judge a book by it’s cover (or to get more literal, replace the word “book” with “video game,” and the word “cover” with trailer). Not that any of that advice is stopping me from getting really anxious for Fallout 3’s release.

The reason there’s been a “series of increasingly frequent divergences” from the usual ZP format is because there is only so much sh*tbal*z that the game industry can cr*p out and the summer in particular is a time when they give themselves a rest from ascending the long stairs to reach the top of the golden cr*pper that is known as “The State of Video Game Production – 2008″ – ostensibly to ready their anal muscles for another grand round of heavy pushing come “Holiday 2008 … and Beyond”. Yes, there’s the occasional gem in the stygian stew of cr*pulence – ?Spore? – but, in general, one man can only do so much with so little. Thus, the “frequent” DIVERSIONS.
