Zero Punctuation Skewers Tomb Raider Anniversary

By Jonathan on Wednesday, September 12th, 2007 at 9:32 PM PST In Gamer Life, Games, Videos

I’ve begun looking forward to each weekly Zero Punctuation video, since they’re usually the one of the funniest things I’ll see all day. Well, “Yahtzee” Croshaw is at it again, this time setting his sights on Tomb Raider: Anniversary. To summarize: the man is not pleased, but at least he seems to have fun expressing his displeasure. Be sure to check out The Escapist’s site for even more Zero Punctuation videos.

I hated the demo. I got too spoiled by Legend, probably.

The game looks half as good as Legend and got the dumb down treatment too. Legend wasn’t perfect, but damn, it’s like CD didn’t care with this one. It’s half the game that Legend was.

Legend doesn’t need a half-assed sequel. Otherwise, go back to sequeling the Soul Reaver/LoK games, CD.

For me Legend was somewhat disappointing.
The puzzles as easy as hell and the game was mostly combat.

I enjoyed the original games where we had multi-level puzzles,
an inventory and only combat now and then when you did something
really cool like open a huge door after going through two levels
of getting all the items you need to open the door where you proceed
to fight a cool enemy, where, by the way, you can just hold your fire button at.

I’m looking forward to playing anniversary being a huge fan of the original
however I doubt anything will ever compare to the magic the original had,
especially with its shitty pixel graphics which seems to somehow enhance the game
    in a strange way.

I’m looking forward to playing Anniversary because I simply haven’t played any of the Tomb Raider games…dunno how that one happened, actually. Anyhow, I love his “Jagged rock country”. The whole thing, as usual, hilarious.

I forgot to post last time, but, the links to his YouTube videos (that aren’t on Escapist, but were what got him on there) can be found,

Classic video review, very funny. For some reason I’ve not seen your work before, but all that’s changed. :)
