Zelda Director Won’t Quit Until He Trumps “Ocarina of Time”

By many accounts, “The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time” is one of the best video games ever (hell, it’s at least in the top ten). Sadly, being the best means it’s even harder for someone to top you, as some more recent Zelda games can show. But that’s not stopping director, Eiji Aonuma, from trying. In a recent interview with Nintendo Power, he expressed his intention to keep working on the classic series and gave his motivation for doing so:

“I’m happy that a title I worked on some time ago remains highly praised to this day, but that also shows how none of the subsequent games in the series have surpassed it. As someone who is still working on the series, I have mixed feelings about that. Because I haven’t yet surpassed it, I can’t quit. Surprisingly, that simply motivation may be the reason I continue to work on the Zelda series.”

That’s right, the man is seriously trying to trump Ocarina of Time. I for one (and Stephany for a second) hope he actually succeeds.
