You Too Can Be in the Next Guitar Hero Game – As Long As Lemmy Thinks You Rock

Are you an exhibitionist? Better yet, are you an exhibitionist with zero shame who has always dreamed of being a rock star? Well, then this is the closest you will probably ever get to immortality my weird friends. The folks over at Activision and Neversoft are holding Guitar Hero tryouts where contestants will battle other hopefuls in an air-guitar free-for-all. The winner will be immortalized as a playable character in the next Guitar Hero installment, while the 2nd 3rd, and 4th runners up will receive some consolation prizes.

Here is what you do. You grab anything that can be used as a pretend guitar, videotape yourself, upload it onto the official website, fill out an online form and wait to see if your crazy videos is chosen by the judge. This is not just any judge either, it’s Lemmy from Motorhead, who would probably know what constitutes fun and interesting guitar theatrics despite, well, I won’t use this post to talk smack about his band. Suffice it to say, he knows what is cool and what is forgettable. Maybe if you air-rocked out to “Ace of Spades”, “Love Me Like a Reptile” or “Snaggletooth” he may get a little misty-eyed and appreciate the ass kissing. Then again, when has Lemmy ever been known to get misty-eyed other than breathing in some theatrical smoke?

You have until April 11, 2008 to submit your video. The winner will be flown to California to be artistically included in the next game, get to play it before it is released, and win a cool Neversoft package of swag. I read the terms and conditions for the contest, and apparently only UK residents are eligible, you also must be at least 16 years of age with a valid passport.
