video marketplace Xbox Live Soon to be Home to BBC Shows?

According to a story in The Sunday Times, Microsoft is currently in talks with the BBC to bring BBC content (including HD content) to Xbox Live. Microsoft is readying to launch the Xbox Live Video Marketplace in Europe, so this would likely be a tremendous addition to the library. The BBC actually signed an agreement last year to explore avenues of developing its digital services.

“We are working diligently on multiple fronts to make it happen,” said Ross Honey, senior director for media at Microsoft’s content and partner strategy group. “The BBC is a great content provider.”

Considering Sony is readying to launch a TV tuner for its PlayStation 3, Microsoft will certainly look to continue to make moves to beef up the Video Marketplace.
