Xbox Live Child Accounts Finally to be Graduated

If you remember way back when the spring dashboard update was released, there was quite an uproar regarding some oversights on the part of Microsoft when adding certain features. Namely, the new Windows Live Messenger functionality was worthless for many due to the fact that it was impossible (well, without some fancy maneuvering) to change the Live ID associated with your Xbox Live account, and because anyone who had signed up for Xbox Live before they were 18 (regardless of their age now) was unable to even use the feature.
It seems ridiculous that we needed to wait so long for those issues to be fixed, but I’ve complained about the matter more than enough. A few of the undocumented changes coming with next week’s dashboard update include the ability to change the Live ID associated with your Live account and the ability to “graduate” your child account to an adult account. And if you happen to still be under 18, you’ll now be able to use Messenger.
I’m much less excited to use Messenger than I was when it was originally announced, but at least the issue’s being rectified for those who still care.
