Xbox 360 System Update Out, But No New Features Included

Next time you log into Xbox Live, you’ll be prompted to download a mandatory system update. According to Major Nelson, the update doesn’t add any new features, but contain code to “prepare for future growth of the service,” whatever that means.
The natural leap from there is to guess that this has something to do with the spring dashboard update. But Major Nelson says that there’s nothing to announce at this time, so we’re left with no other choice than to speculate or wait for some intrepid hacker to dig into the update and find out what’s changed.
My guess is this has something to do with preparing the 360 for the rollout of the IPTV service that Microsoft has been touting for a long time now.
What do you think?
