Xbox 360 HD DVD Player Sales On The Rise

Since Microsoft took $20 off the price of the HD DVD player and threw in 5 free movies, sales have gone up over 1000% on Amazon. It’s really a “no brainer” that sales have gone up, but I am not sure how long the upswing will last. Personally, I prefer Blu-ray so it’s a little frustrating that my favorite system is the 360, yet you have to purchase HD movies for it. I’m hoping that once Blu-ray wins the high definition war, that we’ll get a BR player for the 360. For the current price, the HD DVD player with 5 free movies is still a good buy.
We just learned what happens when you discount the price on the Xbox 360 HD DVD player and throw in five free movies. Our conclusion, they sell more than they did before. Looking through Amazon.com’s sales rank movers and shakers, the Xbox 360 HD DVD player’s sales increased over 1,000% since the $20 price drop. Who needs economics 101 when you’ve got Amazon.com. And if you’re looking to cash in on this super sweet deal, give your local Best Buy a try, some stores are offering it for $149.

The HD-DVD drive is currently at #12 in the chart with the Blu Ray remote at #13. That’s the first time it’s been above it this year. It’s funny how the HD-DVD group ignore sales of that and claim that the PS3 doesn’t count in Blu Ray player sales.
CNN and other news sites owned by Microsoft are always saying: Apparently most people who are buying Blu-Ray discs are buying them for PlayStation 3 Games. But they fail to mention that Blu-Ray versions of movies released in both formats such as 300, outsell their HD DVD version counterparts.
I just had a look at the latest video game chart on Amazon.
#1 Wii
#2 PS3 60gb
#13 PS2
#15 PS3 BluRay remote
#39 Xbox 360 Premium
#40 Xbox 360 Elite
#46 Xbox 360 HD-DVD add on
