wow gold WoW Money Cap Discovered to be True Apparently the limit on how much money you can carry in WoW has been discovered. Players have theorized that a cap existed in the game since the game’s launch and two players have confirmed the existence of said cap. The amount is 214,748 gold, 36 silver, 48 copper and after all of your hard work earning this vast sum, you are not able to receive money from any source in the game. One would assume that to remedy this situation and start collecting more funds would be to go on a shopping spree. Right ladies?

The two players that reached this limit were ‘Dorgabas’ and ‘meth’, the later being on a German server and each have posted evidence of this money cap online. You can view both of the screens below, or go over to WoW Insider which broke the news. They have even provided a translation from the German player’s conversation with the GM asking about this cap. Anyway, I am sure we will soon find out what the deal really is soon enough.

This is caused by a 32 bit signed integer value used by wow to store how much money you have. 2 ^ 31 = 2147483648. Which is exactly the above value in copper. It’s not because wow wanted to limit how much gold you could have.

  2. Cappslocke says:

Neither of them must be warriors then. 2^31 is only slightly above your average repair bill.

  3. John says:

hope they add something in for 64 bit to make this gold go up more

i’m sure they wont brake that any time soon. 2^63=9223372036854775808
thats like 922 trillion gold. =)

  4. Joelteon7 says:

Do you really need that much? My knowledge is limited due to not playing it, but isn’t some of the most expensive stuff only really going upto 4 digit gold? The rest just seems completely excessive.

  5. Kareem says:

Anyway yeah, how is this no surprise that there is a cap? There is a cap on anything that’s on a computer; just as gradbot said. I don’t think this will change simply because blizzard has no intention to actually charge you anything in game that would cost that much.

  6. Chris says:

The most I’ve ever had was, like 12 gold. I started playing again recently and I don’t even have one, so somehow I doubt this will ever become the bane of my existence.

  7. Iku Tri says:

How did they get all that gold?
