World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Trailer

Let’s face it, Wrath of the Lich King is the hottest thing around right now, and media for it keeps popping up. This trailer gives us our first look at the land of Northrend. Located on an island, players will set sail from Azeroth to fight their way through Arthas’ minions on the way to level 80. Just when I was beginning to wonder if I could keep getting excited about more and more World of Warcraft content, Blizzard comes along and drops another power bomb on my free time.
Don’t forget to stay tuned to Gaming Today for updates on Wrath of the Lich King and everything else from Blizzcon, including the screens Stephany brought you earlier.

The people from Blizzard are really trying to suck me into this abyss called World of Warcraft. I am holding firm as I don’t want to get arrested for neglecting my daughter because I’m in a WoW induced trance.
Give in LaChandra, come to the dark-side!
It pains me greatly to see one of the best blizzard franchises being slowly destroyed by the mediocre gameplay of those over priced, under developed MMO’s.
Man i realy think blizzard should have givin it a little more time befor releasing another expantion. there goes another gig on my harddrive.
I actually played a bit of WoW earlier on my friends account (I went round and he was playing Sonic and the Secret Rings, so I was trying to stop his chracter from dying under instruction) and to be honest, it bored me. I was in an instance with some friendlies and we were killing the same monsters over and over. Then, the group got bored and went their seperate ways. Not for me.
Irregardless of the above mind you, what are we to expect now? An expansion pack every 6 months, or so? Two a year? It’s a bit odd that after years of the game being out, they release Burning Crusade and then months down the line add another expansion pack?
To be honest, I’ve got to agree with a poster on 1up. He said “Common Blizzard, we’d rather see Warcraft RTS 4″. Granted, I part-ex’d my ‘treasure chest’ of 3 and Frozen Throne, but they were more fun than the WoW I played earlier. Additionally, they don’t have to stop on creating content for WoW.
This does to me look like a bit of a money-making scheme rather than making a good game for people to enjoy; I’m not saying that developer’s want to make money, but there is sometimes a difference between doing stuff which you believe people might enjoy (hence adding ONE expansion) and then trying to milk it for its 8 million people’s + worth.
OMGG !!!!!!!!!!!!! DESTRUCTIBLE BUILDINGS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To Joelteon7, have you even looked at any of the actual info from Blizzcon on the new expansion. Where in that is there a release date? The best estimates so far are 8-12 months from now we can expect a release. That puts it OVER 1 year from the TBC. Blizzard has been stating for a longass time that they intend on releasing smaller expansions every year or so. Just the title and details are new. We all knew there was an expansion coming.
TBC was well put together and if people didn’t like it…they wouldn’t be subscribing enmass like they are now.
On what datum he comes out 2008 right?
lol wow.. joelteon7 first of all your name is after a pokemon.. second of all dude this whole game is not just an instance… (which is probably the most boring part of the game) you havent leveled your character.. you havent PvP’ed .. you havent farmed you did like 1% of possabilities and wound up doing the most boring thing possable and you complain
Sorry, assumption on my behalf that it was coming out soon (trailer looked good for in-game details). No I haven’t looked at the site, it doesn’t interest me that much. As I said, the RTS’ did. That being said though, say it comes out in a year from now at the latest, that’s still a shorter time between expansion’s then between the release of the game and the first one, right? I think my point still has some validity to it.
Weird, as for saying that my name is based after a pokémon…who cares? Seriously, my opinion is all that matters, not my name. Fact is, if I do something that’s boring, which you say it is, then I’m going to find it boring. It looks like a goliath RPG, which it is (MMORPG, right?) and RPG’s bore me. The idea of levelling up is one of the worst game-play methods I’ve seen. Try playing Star Ocean: Till the End of Time and levelling up in that. It’s one of the most God damn boring things to do in the game, in fact it’s the very reason I stopped playing it (besides, disc 2 is **************** ridiculous).
Thing is, RPG’s are mostly good because of their engrossing story-line. Considering the story-line from WoW can be summed up as a follow-on to Warcraft 3 and can probably be summed up in a few pages, I just can’t see how I (emphasis on I there) will find it interesting.
Some people just don’t like WoW, I’m one of them. I also did more than just be in an instance. I did enough to realise “heh, not bad, but not good either”. Not enough to get me on the bandwagon.
Nothing wrong with not liking WoW. I was one of the people who said I would never play it. Then, late one night while defragging my hard drive (1TB of space takes a while), I slipped over to my wife’s PC to do a little gaming. She had this WoW thing installed, and I thought, “What the heck. I’ll try that out.”
200 days played later, and I’m still in there. Honestly, the draw for me is not just the game, it’s the people I play it with. One thing I would recommend to you is that you look a bit further into the storyline of WoW. It is so much more than a follow on to Warcraft 3.
At any rate, I don’t think there’s any thing surprising about an expansion a year. TBC was released 2 years after the original game. However, as it only had 10 levels of content, (plus raiding), it doesn’t shock me that Blizzard wants to get another expansion out 12 months later to keep people interested, and to draw new players.
Maybe they’ll hit 10 million with this one.
Yep, nothing wrong with not liking WoW, i’m one of those people too and I agree with this game being boring. I also agree that you can’t judge this game by only playing a couple of hours; takes about a week and you’re really hooked.
I’ve quit WoW a long time ago, almost 2 years now, and I remember when they released the game that Hero Classes were going to be implemented soon, same goes for siege engines. It’s just funny to see this being announced now… I wonder if it’ll actually happen this time. Hopefully it will.
One thing is for sure, Blizzard is going to be making even more money and keeping it’s disciples happy for another couple of years.
when is this expansion come out???
it comes out august 4th 2008
and when are they gonna come out with the REAL trailer like TBC and original WoW
The real CG trailer will no doubt come out much much closer to the release
Though it would be nice to see one early on
– However, Its better that they poor all thier effort into making a good game, so that there are no glitches upon release
I actually quit wow about 2 months ago, after a year of constant grinding, but not with this news, and the beckoning expansion, I may have to reconsider my decision and start up again
to long of a wait
please quit this game, it is ruining your life!!!
How much is this expansion going to suck for a frost mage?
suck frost mages will be devo. it is frost in northrend. and blizzard should make more and more expansions i love this game im a lvl 70 be rouge
wow is the worst game i think i have ever played. I know a lot of people who play it and they have become ghostly looking freaks who never go out. I think games like this should be banned because i have seen how they can affect people from a neutral point of view and its really sad. Go smash it up, and phone a friend and go do something outside in the fresh air, dont pay money to waste your life gaining nothing, put all that time towards a goal in real life not a game and it will make you much happier. I had a quick dabble in it myself and i can see where the addiction comes from, but your not gaining anything from this game, ever. Yeah u might have a full epic set, but what actually is that? Its a few extra numbers and a different texture that only exists inside your pc its nothing at all. Playing wow all day like ive seen people doing is something i would be ashamed of and i really would like to see games like this banned because they suck the weak minded into a false realty that wont always be there and will one day leave them with nothing for all thier time and wasted money.
rambo is comletely right.. blizz is pushin you on and on..
now they ad zul aman and throw us a bone like we are dogs
and they gave arena epics almost for free.. now any1 can get
full arena epic gear in 2 weeks.. blizz did that cause they
saw that peoples are slowly step by step going reducing their time
spent online, so in every way they can, they want you to get you
to play it and spent more money on &*%$ing game.. but not me
i will wait untill lich king comes along and then start again to play
WoW..
fuck you blizz
este juego es bakan!!!!
jaja
Rambo is just made cause he got owned by the Fel Reaver @ lvl 61, if its has ?? dont attack it, obiously the population thinks otherwise about it being the worst game ever, ive been playing since release, and have spent well over 150 days of my life right here in this chair, and u better believe im proud of it, aint nothing like going to the bar and telling a chick yeah i’m 4/5 Vengeful Gladiator
When is the expansion coming, because i’ve heard Jan 18th?
I have 2 70’s,and once I hit 70 the content thereafter bores the crap out of me. I don’t want to run raids 11 hours a day,or pvp the same, just to get the latest and greatest epic that becomes obsolete in the next patch. Farming gets old when it becomes like a job. The irony that I can farm an area for 3 hours and make a pile of fake gold, when I could go outside and make real money at a job is a slap in the face. I only play it now for fleeting moments,20-30 minutes once or twice a week..I think I might actually have cured my addiction so yay me.
well im am looking forward to WOTLK with great interest and i see where Joelteon7 is coming from as i used to think rpg games were the most boring game of all till i played ff7 (a friend introduced me to it) then i had a pc demo disk of pc zone of knight online (mylasian version)i thought that was interesting but too full of cheaters using hacks so i was looking for another game then my friend told me about wow so i decided to give it a try and i find it one of my all time favorite games that iv ever played. its an interesting game and it helps wen you have RL friends playing it as you can progress together good luck all best save money for WOTLK raids hehe most prob 1000g repair per death hehe
I will open my comment by stating, don’t be foolish, and follow it up with stop being haters. As mentioned before by others, theres absolutely nothing wrong with disliking the game. But as announced today, 10 million subscribers world wide can’t be wrong. The game is fun, and once you play it and give it say a week as also mentioned above, you’re undoubtedly hooked. I got a RL friend to play it, and i quote, his first words were, oh this is fun, you click something once and watch your character swing at it until its dead. But as he started to level and see the different abilities you could gain and skill it took he was hooked instantly. Prior to playing he was completely anti WoW and it was like pulling teeth to get him to play. Now he’s the on getting others into the game. For those of you who are like this is a waste of time,. and it will get you know where, and once the games over you’ll have nothing blablabla… you’re foolish. I’ve seen countless players level to 70 with characters, get some epic gear, farm some “Fake stacks of gold” as mentioned above, and then sell said character(s) for $3000+ on ebay. So you sir, are out of your mind.
I love expansions….i’m a lvl 70 and don’t really like pvping or farming crap for my epic flight form (im a druid) so im guessing we’re gonna make more in wrath of the lich king, so ill just wait till that comes out and get it
anyways, i have no problem with people not wanting to play WoW….i almost stopped but i started to play again cause i didnt want one of my friends to level past me =P…..but if you do, don’t come to the site where we’re talkin about wrath of the lich king!
