World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Expansion Pack

Blizzard officially announced the World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King expansion pack at Blizzcon. This will be the second true expansion for the World of Warcraft MMO.
The expansion’s title of course refers to the Lich King Arthus, Son of King Terenas Menethil, former Prince and Paladin of the Kingdom of Lordaeron; in the kingdom of Northrend he took up the Runeblade Frostmourne, becoming a Death Knight.Arthus fused with Ner’zhul the Lich King. He is King of the Scourge, and technically still King of Lordaeron, although that Kingdom no longer exists and few would claim him s a king since he was responsible partially for its fall.
Features of the expansion include:
- The dark, necromatic Death Knight - the first new character class added to World of Warcraft since its launch.
- Northrend, the harsh, icy continent where the Lich King holds rule, complete with new zones, quests, items and monsters.
- New level cap of 80 providing access to mighty new powers and talents
- New battlegrounds featuring siege engine warfare and destructible buildings
- Expanding character customization options including new hairstyles & dances, the ability to change the hairstyles of existing characters, and new skin color variants.
Rumors are that Utgarde Keep may be an instance based on this unsubstantiated “leaked” FAQ.via WoWWiki

You cant start with a new class.
The death knight class will only be available when you meet certain criteria with your main character, then you can start a new character wich starts at a high level(Probably 70) and thats a death knight.
Utgarde keep is indeed one of the dungeon instances and in this one and the others in Northrend there will be a Hero-Option.
After you set foot on Northrend you will be dealing with scourge always, but all the factions and races have settlements on the continent of Northrend, the Undead even brought their own mastered plauge to use on Arthas's mindless forces. If you have uncvered all of the mysteries and secrets of Northrend one final quest remains; Arthas the Lich-King of the Scourge. Arthas still sits on his Frozen Throne on top of his own keep, with in his hand the mighty blade: Frostmourne!
If you can get Frostmourne as a reward for killing Arthas isn't sure but i expect it is.

i agree its not too soon i started playing right after tbc came out and i have 2 lvl 70's 1 is a BE rogue and the other is a BE pally and im getting kinda bored with some of the things that tbc has to offer and about this new class… the death knight if it is a true "hero" class then from what i have heard he is basically a raid boss meaning that i could take over sw solo?!?! hehe down with allys

Im glad its coming out actually, burning crusades didnt have that much to offer really, ya 10 levels, ya a new map and some Instances, but we needed more. I got my 60 to 70 really fast, and before you knew it…I was board again (besides PvP)
AND DEFINATLY! We need new content for the lower levels, id say 20-50 (cuz the 50 areas are fun) I think that would make me want to play it more.
1-Im getting extremely board with the original game
2-I want a different and more interesting place to level, because leveling..its just getting to be an absolute pain in the ass (unless ur a lock cuz its fun)
3-I really wanna see a big improvement in the game, there are alot of people coming into it and we need more space to play and more variaty.
One thing that has disapointed me with Blizz is their banning system. Its absolutely rediculouse.
Now, ive never gotten banned or hacked, but ive heard people telling me they have to Re-Buy wow just play again. I think getting their 2 epic 70's is enough punishment, I mean they pay $15 a month anyway, blizz does not need the extra $50.

but if you got banned you need to go and email blizz and thats a kind a problem if you are a 10 year old buy who cant speak good english… i had got banned once and i needed to buy it cuz i couldn't good english to get their e-mail..
but when i told my bro that i were banned he said i was a fool that i didn't had said it to him a little earlier…..
but yea, it was my own fault… i had downloaded a free bot…. ( VERY STUPID) i were only lvl 40 but yea…
then i bought a new WoW and then i didn't use the bot.. i maked a priest and then i were just freaking all the day long ( when i came home from school) i hited lvl 70 in 17 days playtime it is oke but i know them who can do it faster..
and now to why blizz are taking money for it… i mean like HELLO you are 1 of the most richest game producers in THE WORLD! ffs..
you earn over 10.000.000$ in the month…. take it easy ffs…. don't take more money for it…

I hope they have a new race for bolth horde and alliance i like making new chars and questing that area but i hate when u get to that lvl and have to go to where u quested before bc its boring change it up and give a new area.I also think bliz shoulda took a lil more time to get our comment on what to put in the new game before they went off and made a new expansion when i just bought bc.

ok iv been reading some of the posts people have been leaving, here are a few things to consider before saying silly things
1) it is not a class, it is a HERO CLASS (the first ever one) therefore you can assume you'd need to be a hero first ie. have a high levelled character - a blizzard spokesperson hinted the required level would be around 55-60
2) blizzard were intending the class to be available to all races (subject to change)
it would seem that reaching a specific level on a character would unlock the ability to create a new death knight account - blizzard has mentioned that they would have an amount of experience and spells ready to use on creation, however obviously the starting level would not exceed the level needed to unlock the death knight (someone's post mentioned that you would start at level 70!)

Little unsure of the date to be honest. Amazon.com claims it would be Novemeber 30ish 2008, But; that's being sold by 'Viendi Games' and there's no image etc. and the product name itself seems odd.
However on Amazon.co.uk the xpac is there, claiming it'll be out January 18th 2008, which not only seems more specific datewise, but the product also has a picture with it, trailer for the game and is also being sold by 'Blizzard'
I personally believe this will be the correct date, or soemthing similar as long as they do not postpone it.
Currently got a lvl 62, so I should easily reach 70 and get the chance to explore the lvl 70 raids etc within time

well i think AF1992 is right the amazon.co.uk looks the most promising they say it will be out 18th jan 2008, just to say for those that are complaining coz they havent got to lvl 70 in time that if you quest in the right places and do the quests you can lvl really fast also if you are one of these people that ask for a boost (very annoying) questing is faster than getting boosts some 70's are really busy some doing raids some doing arena just let them be 70's who arnt bored are always dong something,like me i got bored not long after 70 but joined a good guild and im now expierancing more of the game by doing raids atm we are just finishing serpantshrine cavern and soon will be on mount hydra and black temple which by the time we start clearing that the exp pack will be out thos as anoying as it is lvl 70 epic will get replaced by lvl 71 greens..but hey always fun getting the lvl 80 epics (till anoher exp pack comes out lol)
anyway im looking forward to WoTLK as well as LVL 80 Naxxaramas (25 man raid)

well if you have been paying attention before TBC cam out they said they will be trying to bring out exp packs every year and i dont think it will be 8th of jan 2007 lol its been and gone (just joking i know you ment to say 2008 and hit the wrong key) well i think it will be 18th of jan 2008 due to a little research of the reasles date and you can pre order on amazon.co.uk (best do it now before it gets sold out like with TBC at the beginning of the year)

Its coming out November… '08. I am not looking forward to this expansion at all. There is no new lower lvl areas. theres nothing you can get to right away. its blizzards way of sucking the money out of you. I personally prefer the original, before any expansions, because the new alliance race sucks, blood elves are good, so it evens out the races, and the level 70 intances are just not quite as fun as the level 60 ones. I only play the level 70 ones so i can get good gear, but most of the time im on a level 60 alt playing on those instances. If i had to rate BC id give it a 3. Flying mounts are AWESOME!!! The last expansion (rumored to be called the frozen throne) will probably contain the last two races. Then a new game will come along and everyone will quit WoW and play that game. So WoW does end, when they run out of people paying for the game. I will not get the new expansion because its a waste of money and time. I might get it once its like 20 bucks but b4hand no.

hey there pplz… like u i love to play WoW but i have been hearing from some ppl that most classes can not unlock the DeathKnight class.. now i do not believe this untill i actually c blizz say this.. and at this moment i am looking.. havent found anything yet… which i am happy about because i have a lvl 70 Hunt and soon lvl 70 Druid and i want to hope that atleast 1 can get it because the DeathKnight class would suit me so well lol… i mean a dream of mine would b to b able to b one in this world but… that isnt gonna happen lol

Have you downed illidian stormrage in black temple? went to za yet? got your tier sets? Arena ratings? Yeah I didnt think so. And the death knight is going to only be opended to players in he high level range 68 who will need to complete a long quest line chain to unlock this feature, go level up get off the forums.

ok guys first off
1.)the new continent is onlyavailableto 70's
2.)to geta death knoight u must reach lvl 80 and do a LONG chain quest then your account will be unlocked to create a (hero) deathknight class.
3.) he starts out at lvl 60 and he is a warrior thaat tanks while duel weilding.
4.) he can summon minions, and he uses a totally different energy system instead of manaor rage orenergyhe uses (rune stones) he etches 6 of them into his sword. 3 different color runes certain colorsunlock certain abilities.
5.) its not easy to unlock the death knight not many people will have them for a LONG time.
6.) death knights were made for lvl 80 endgame raids becusae they are to hard for any warrior to tank.

Blizzard did not give any information about the release date.
If so, they'll announce it on the WoW-Forum or at the "News" site on the WoW Website.

the wrath of the lich game expansion should be the best of the expansions. It comes out not to long from now. It has a new race called the deathnight. And you can get the new lvl 80. I'd recomend to try your hardest to get to lvl 70 so you will be able to actually get to lvl 80 or just start your brand new race the deathnight.good luck and have fun playing.make sure to check out that website for more info on wrath of the lich king.

I have done lots of research and from what i have found you do a chain Q to gain the Death knight option. Im still unsure whether u have to scarifice your cahracter but i doubt that is true. However once you gain the Death Knight class (which is made especially for PvP…so im told) you will start at lv50. how accurate this research is i dont know but it seems perfectly credible.
AND for those who are worried bcus they arent lv 70 yet: Death knight may be available at lower lvs, at lv70 or at lv80/a higher elvel in the expansion.

I would also like 2 agree with Cheah. The expansions ruin the game. Wen the lv cap was 60 you were able to get ltos of characters to that level no prob. Blizzard are trying to achieve the idea that not many ppl will be top level and that people will be spread out over all the levels, this effect is shown well in the popular online game *runescape* which I myself havent played but my younger brother insists on showing me
however the expansions are brought out to slowly. I say leave the level cap! apart from that new content is a gd idea altho id like 2 see the new PvP armour sets for lv80!

well. to be honest in my personal way of thinking. this level cap will probley be the last one for a very long time. think about it, this game will not be a level 100 game. it would take to long, and yes alot of kids with nothing to do play this game; but also alot of adults witch do have otehr things to do play as well. also if you noticed in the patch they made it easier to get to level 60. by lowering exp requirments and raiseing quest exp. because they knew this expantion was comeing. i dont have a level 70 yet i been playing for a month now and i have a level 43 warrior ( prot. spec) and level 20 mage (frost spec) i dont even have burning crusades. and some of you are saying BC hasnt even set in yet. well i play on a pvp server, and there are about mabe tops 7 guilds on horde side. the side i am on, that do any of the BC instances; most of it is BG BG BG. LAMEO. the only reason no one experanced the game is no one can rip themself away from mindless pvp long enough to do the acually game. that is all i really have to say. just when this new one comes out, try being a little more orginized and you might find out that; you can do things quicker.

Helo everyone im a lvl 52 htauren hunter on Gilneas and ive been reading and u have to be a lvl 55 to become a deathknight. You get an option to become a deathknight and then u have to take quests to get skills and the lvls.You get a lvl 40 mount spell which the mount is a Deathcharger(sorda zombie looking thing) and u do more quests to get the epic on like locks and paladins do. Well have fun trying to get 55 at least!

DeathKnight=Awesome! I think,or if im correct that when u begin or take the option to become a death knight you start at the same lvl u are, or you start at lvl55 no matter what lvl u are. But no matter even when u become a death knight you will embark on quest when u first log on with ur death knight. They already give u a sword and armor for starter.

Death Knight will be unlocked if you have a Character in lvl 55 or higher (read about it), you don't need to do some pre-quests to unlock it and They start at lvl 55 in EPL (EasternPlague Lands) that DK will only spawn… If you don't agree with me… Then you must read the sites about DK!

WoW nobody can spell worth a damn here…As far as when WotLK comes out, according to Blizzard, there is no release date set yet as they will not release till they are satisfied that it's ready. As far as the Alliance ruling, unfortunately they do as most of the GM's are alliance toons with very few on Horde toons. As far as getting a Death Knight character to play, once again according to Blizzard, you have to have a lvl 70 toon and then the new character will be unlocked as one per game account per server that you have the lvl 70 toon on. The Death Knight will start as a lvl 55 and have quest chain to learn how to play your new toon and be able to set your skills up the way you want them. So, until Blizzard does release WotLK, just remember that you have to wait like everyone else so stop bitching.

if you guys want to know, once you reach level 55 you can go to the north of the eastern plaguelands to a place called the ebon site or something, then you can get a quest or talk to someone to become a death knight. The three talent trees for a death knight are blood, frost and unholy, calculators are on WoW.com. Also apparently there will be extra talents for all the classes. for example druids will get berserk as their final feral combat move, not mangle. Im a 42 night elf druid on the sentinels realm called nightsnake, pst me if u want to know more.

im not sure when iits coming out but what i can tell u is that u will be able to use ur flying mounts on the new continent…and the reason that they havent released it is because they have to play the game all the way through and make sure everything is ok no glitches and what not…so every time they find a glitch they have to repair it and keep on goin thru the game…now how far they are thru the game i have no clue…haha lol… and goin to japan will only cost u more money for a 50 dollar game….i dont think its worth it…
