World of Warcraft Trial Account Limitations Enacted to Combat Spammers

As Blizzard has made it ever more difficult for spammers and gold sellers to do their dirty work, the operations have come up with a new method of assaulting subscribers.
If you’ve made a new character anytime in the last few months then you’ve experienced the latest form of gold seller spam. You’ll be doing your leveling thing, grinding or boars or what not, and suddenly you’ll get a party invite from a level 1 warrior in either Elwynn Forest or Durotar. Should you accept the invite, you’ll be inundated with offers for everything from “cheap WoW gold” to hacks that transform your character into a level 10,000 behemoth.
To meet this new challenge, Blizzard has placed new limitations on its World of Warcraft 10 day trial accounts.
We applied a small hotfix early this morning to include an additional restriction to trial accounts.
Trial accounts may no longer invite players to a party. They can still, however; accept invites from subscriber accounts who they may wish to group with.
Many other restrictions have been leveled on trial accounts to keep them from being exploited by gold farming operations. From level caps to limiting gold to 10G per trial account, Blizzard keeps throwing up new defenses and the gold farmers keep finding a way around them. A full list of current limitations to trial accounts can be found after the break.
It’s such a pity they don’t make all this legal, through controlled channels and web sites, and put these pirates out of business for good.
The following restrictions are placed on all Classic Trial Accounts:
- A level cap of 20.
- A maximum of 10 gold.
- Trade skills are capped at 100 ranks.
- Inability to trade via the auction house, mailbox, or player-to-player.
- In-Game public chat channels will be unavailable. (Players will still be able to communicate using say, party, or whispers).
- Characters will be unable to create or join existing guilds.
- Accounts will no longer be able to whisper other players unless they have been added to those players’ friends lists or have received a whisper from them first.
- Characters will not be able to invite players into a party.
- Characters will not be able to join parties with other players above level 20.
- Voice Chat is disabled on trial accounts.
- Realms with login queues will give priority to customers with retail accounts.
- Will not be eligible for any Character Transfer service.

WTF SERIOUSLY WTF
WHAT THE #$@!
ONLY UP TO 100 SKILL LVL THAT SUCKS!
AND I MEAN LVL 20 IT SHOULD AT LEAST BE LVL 30
thats about the gayest thing evert raf is no fucked up thanks alot blizz
I have a trial account and just started about a week ago. It is a bit disappointing that my toon will only level up another 4 levels, but I understand the reasoning behind capping the trial account.
It allows anyone who is curious about WOW to be fully engaged with it and find out if they will like it enough to shell out the 15 bucks a month.
It also makes it much more difficult for those who only look to profit from WOW rather than enjoy the game for what it was designed to be.
A fun, bad-ass, playground for people who enjoy your RPG, Open-world environments.
I disagree with the comments above. I do not believe that the tone is necessary nor is the slang apropos.
I will be purchasing a subscription when my trial is up or when I reach the cap. The game is that cool.
I wholeheartedly agree good sir. Glad to see someone on this comment list has some courtesy and respect. I mean come on people, it’s a trial for God’s sake! They can’t let people do everything for free when others pay 15 bucks a month for it! I too will purchase this game once my trial is up. “The game is just that cool.”
Sure it does suck, but its there for a reason i suppose.
And as said above if you wanna play the whole game that bad paying £10 a month doesnt seem that bad :/
And the game is a hell of alot better with friends (Y)

Don’t you understand this would ruin the game even more? If blizzard is gonna sell gold and stuff for real life money, the rich people would be better at all time. A little like real life u see. I think blizzard should invest more in preventing poeple from buying gold instead. As they earn big shitloads of money anyway
I think the game is really cool, and worth paying for, but i am a bit disappointed with the skill cap. I can understand the lvl cap and such, but the skill cap does seem a bit much. Plus, maybe cause i am still a new player, i can’t really see where “gold farmers”, or whatever they are called, can profit off of using skills to get gold. Especailly if there are restrictions on trading like there are. So while i can see the point in and agree with the other restrictions, it still doesn’t make sense, nor can i agree with the skill cap. Ultimately though it no longer matters seeing as how i am buying the full version today. I just wanted to express my opinion is all.
The restrictions are a pain, but completely worth it. In silk road online the game was completely taken over by gold farmers/ sellers- it was so populated by them they filled all the worlds completely so that you had to pay for a special item to bypass the full server message.
So just be thankful that blizzard keeps these scammers at a bare minimum.
wow, this sux, made lvl 20 in like 2 days. I am playing just to fight off boredom . I don’t have money for my real account right this moment and made lvl 20 in like 2 days. now I’m capped, grrr. I agree, make it lvl 40 or 50 cap, mabe even lvl 60. I can understand not being able to trade, sell, etc. I can understand even not allowing whispers unless other party acts, etc but I can lvl realy quick. I just took the moment to try other configs on my char while waiting to get $$, now I’m back to being boored
You got to be kidding me…
Level 60 cap on a trial account?! Hahaha. Try Shaiya or Jade Dynasty. Free to play MMOs that are large scale and good fun.
really though… increasing the level cap… XD
This is so stupid!! I also reached lvl 20 for two characters in about 6 days. WTF??? Why can’t i even ride a horse, when other lvl 20 chars, who pay for the game, can? I have 5 gold in my pocket but it is useless… This game suck! Really suck!
like ruPaul
I have just one thing to say
Trial only server
no restrictions, trolls gone wild,
one pvp, one pvprp one normal one normal rp
then you can use mail and all types of stuff, go to 80 whatever and then if you want to pay up you pick a full frontal server!
discuss…..
Reached level 20 yesterday…played for hours today without noticing my xp wasn’t increasing. This sux. Level 20 can’t do anything. No point in playing anymore, except to do some random bgs.
I dont think that this limited game play demonstates the game very well it made me frustrated that there were all these things that dont work that were their and i didnt know why i spent hours gathering herbs wondering why my level wasnt going up i figured i would play my guy then buy the game but with all the stuff i couldnt do i feel i have wasted a lot of hours playing a caracter that is useless and would have to start again if i buy the game so probaly wont buy it right away if i do
I have been playing for about half a week now and i just noticed that my character can’t use a fishing pole… Are there any limitations to fishing skill on trial accounts or will i just have to do something before i can get fishing?
