wisconsin border sign Wisconsin Wooing Game Industry as Propose Tax Turns to Tax Credit

Wisconsin is encouraging the Games Industry to set up shop by offering 25 percent tax credits. not only is the state offering a 25 percent rebate on qualified production related expenditures Wisconsin is throwing in a 15 percent credit for infrastructure development. The credits are available to the film and television industry as well.

I find this ironic considering the state was drawing fire from the ESA earlier this year over a proposed double tax on video games. Wisconsin State Senator Jon Erpenbach tried to justify it by claiming video games were played by kids under seventeen and the tax revenues would be used on programs to keep them out of trouble. Now the state is courting the same industry it was slamming in December 2007. Money changes everything.

After living in WI for 12 years, I got sick of it. The only cities I had fun in were Appleton and Madison. Milwaukee is a little too old and filled with wanna-be gang-bangers, Oshkosh is just a college town to get drunk in, Sheboygan has a nice beach but smells like crap, and Green Bay just smells like crap without the beach.

    CO FTW!

In the land of cheese and beer a video game developer would fit right in.

    Go Marlins!!!!

wisconsin is great. and i’m not even from wisconsin – i’m irish!

as to the game tax thing – i remember reading this and thought what a pile of b***ocks! games are responsible for crime my arse!

so following that train of thought, there should be HUGE tax increases on beer and alcohol, because it causes car crashes and drunken fights?

or HUUUGGGEEEEEEE taxes on fast food because it makes you obese, diabetic and kills you with heart disease (say….thats not a bad idea)

all i can say is wisconsin is a great state if you like a better quality of life, if you really like to see your tax dollars actually at work for you (as opposed to funding invading foreign countries), a great place to move with a family, and awesome if you love the outdoors and paddling,…. though it could really do with some mountains….

but things like a double game tax…wisconsin policy makers….GET A GRIP!!!!
