The “Secret Pre-Release Details” for the Windows XP Service Pack 3 are up on Tech ARP. Actually everyone will have access to this information Monday when SP3 goes live through Windows Update. In case you just can’t bare surprises, you can get the full details on TechARP.
For any gamers smart or lucky enough to stay away from Vista, this is as good as it gets. SP3 is supposedly the last update for Windows XP.

LOLOLOLOLOLOL
Good gamers stay away from Vista? That’s an incorrect concept that has plagued Vista for so long. After an year and a tad of existing, Vista is patched and working. Games should rarely pose a significant penalty on Vista now, I’m a gamer and am on Vista, and I haven’t gotten any detectable performance drop.
I’m coming from the position that Everyone should avoid Vista.. not just gamers. It’s the Windows ME of the XP family. While Vista is working much better its just not worth the upgrade if you have XP – at least not yet anyway. Even the DX 10 textures, while nice, are just eye candy that is used to lure gamers to the platform. Had DX 10 been ported to XP I doubt many people would have considered the switch and Microsoft knows that.
what!? no dx10 feature on service pack 3? no thank you sticking with vista for dx10 and other stuff
axy is right.
As of SP1, Vista outperforms XP in almost every regard, even in games. Join the now folks. The minority hate on Vista is over. That meme is tired and played out. We heard it for the first 2 years of XP and now we’ll hear it for the first 2 years of Vista when everyone finally realizes that parroting this shit is just a waste of time. Vista is solid and an improvement over XP in almost every regard.
come june microsoft is not supporting XP anymore. just fair warning.
Come on …
For “Johnny Homeuser”, Vista might be somehow OK, but for professionals, you can forget that crap.
It takes you one day to eliminate all the helpers and “protection” stuff.
“You moved your mouse! You need admin rights to move your mouse! Are you sure to move your mouse!”
shawn sines is completely right! It´s the ME of the NT/XP series.
Nice shiny features without any use.
If you think Vista is bad for gaming, try to do some real networking tasks with that. *LOL*
I have a lot of friends, that switched to linux for work/banking and only keep one XP partition for gaming.
Next Windows should be a highlight – or Microcrap will get in trouble!

THANK YOU. I was worried when I bought my laptop that has vista as I’m a PC gamer to the core. Vista works just motha-effin’ fine for me. No problems, and I don’t think I’ll have any.

That’s pure nonsense. I use this at work, as does everyone else at my company. We are networking company. Everything works fine. It’s truly better than XP. It’s more stable, it’s more robust, and it’s at least 10 times more secure. It needs more resources, just like every new version of windows EVER. There’s no good reason NOT to switch, unless cost is an issue.
