Viable, maybe in the sense that it will “Survive” indefinitely, but by no means a competitor.
I would guess this format would achieve no more than 1 percent market share.

This is off topic but maybe Nentendo’s going to re-introduce a VR console. Something like the Virtual Boy but with current technology were you just put glasses on. Call it Virtual Wii. Like you said William “For Nintendo to succed with their next console, they’ll obviously need something unique to offer people..” What could possibly have the same effect? I say some type of VR made easy to use or maybe a motion controller similar to the i toy or the now called PS eye. Now thats a possibility !!

@used-c: it sure does look like a viable competitor. I certainly don’t think it will ever get close to Blu-ray, but it will still compete in niche markets.

@HQ: At this point, I think it’s safe to say that Nintendo’s nex-gen console will probably be less powerful than what Sony or Microsoft release. Nintendo really has a completely different market when it comes to a majority of their consumers at this point.

I’ll be upfront… I’m not personally a fan of the Wii when comparing it to the 360 or PS3.. but I obviously realize it’s a viable option for many people.

For Nintendo to continue to succeed with their next console, they will obviously need something unique to offer people.. like what the Wii-mote did with this one.

I wonder what Nintendo’s going to do this next generation to out do blue-ray? I hope they don’t keep going with last gen graphics. lol The Wii 2 will have PS3 graphics when the PS4 and Xbox 720 are out!! LOL $$$$but seriously they’re doing something right$$$$
