According to the Wall Street Journal, WiiWare will officially launch in North America on May 12th, which is a couple of months later than Engine Software predicted last month. No specifics on which companies will be involved, what the titles will be or how much it will cost – but now that a release date has been announced, the specifics will more than likely start trickling in.

Part of the Wii Shop Channel, WiiWare will specialize in software designed for the Wii to provide small developers an opportunity to release smaller, original games without having to gamble with retailers. Want more information on WiiWare? Look no further than our previous posts, and check back often as I am sure Nintendo will send a press release regarding WiiWare’s release in the near future.
