"it's pretty obvious it's on par with last generation."

Thats the thing. I'm cool with that. I LOVE my PS2, and my XBOX and my Wii.
I have put a lot of time into games like gears and lost planet, and I STILL prefer to play Halo or Halo 2, I STILL prefer to play god of war. There isn't a "next gen" game yet that I really like better than my faves from last gen. As for 6th gen or 7th gen, at this point is doesn't even matter any more. What matters is where the fun games are, there are still a ton I haven't played on PS2, hell there are a few I haven't played on the xbox and cube as well. One thing I'm really glad about the Wii is the back compat rocks. I love Chronicles of Riddick on my xbox, and those asshats are not updating the back compat profile JUST so they can release an updated version for 360. That sucks. That really sucks. Ok, I've lost the topic, so I'll stop.

I try not to say too many bad things about the Wii, because the Wii fanboys jump all over me, but I have always mentioned that the Wii really isn't in the same class as the 360 or PS3... it's pretty obvious it's on par with last generation.

I agree with both of you. The PS2 will die off in the next few years; two to three years. That is because HD will be a standard, or extremely close to it, and the PS2 does not provide that kind of functionality. I also believe, for the same reason, that the Wii will also die off at around the same time.

(off topic) Since the Wii should die off within the next few years, I believe that it can not be considered a Seventh-generation console, but a powerful Sixth-generation console. If you look at it, the Wii's process can't even come close to 1Ghz, the PS2 is somewhere in the 400MHz range (I believe). It has no HD capibilities, and if you look at almost everything else it offers, except for the time it took to release it, you find it more similar to the Sixth-generation consoles. If it was released at the time of the PS2, the Wii would have won, especially if it was at the same price. So with all that said, the PS2, and the Wii, will ultimately die off within the next few years.

I totally agree. The PS2 is still a solid system, and there is just no way that anyone played all the great games out there for it. I don't plan on getting a PS3 for quite some time. Not just because it's expensive (it is) and doesn't have many good games yet (it doesn't) but because the PS2 still has a ton of life left in it. I gots to have my guitar hero and and God of War you know?
