Even while Ubisoft was cranking out tons of new announcements, trailers, and such for some of their biggest upcoming titles during UbiDays, a lot of people still noticed the curious absence of Splinter Cell: Conviction from the company’s lineup. Naturally, when this sort of thing happens, rumors run rampant, with people speculating that some major catastrophe must have befallen the project. Luckily though, a Ubisoft spokesperson has stepped up to clarify that this is not the case:

“In reference to speculative stories that have appeared recently, in January of 2008 we announced that the game would be released in the fiscal year of ‘08/’09. And at this point in time we are not ready to be more specific than that. We will begin to communicate more once we feel the time is right for us and our fans.”

They added that the game is definitely “still in development” though. It’s starting to look more and more like they had to go back and revamp almost the entire game, considering we were originally supposed to be sneaking around in Sam Fisher’s shoes by now.
