Who Said Bioshock Wasn’t Art?

For some odd reason, this bit is making the rounds on several news sites here lately, even though it is several weeks old now. Cobwebs aside, it’s still pretty damn cool and worth a (re)visit.
To the right is an image of some Bioshock art that I dare anyone deny as being “real” art (click on the image for a closer look). The artist here has truly mastered the mechanical-thumb-dial-twiddling-dust-window of happiness™. The real crazy thing is the whole thing was drawn within the span of some 40 minutes. I certainly wish I had that kind of patience. It takes me that long just to draw a single scene of stick figure ninjas flipping-out & killing each other… and I’m using pencil and paper! I bow in reverence here.
The artist, known as The Etchasketchist, has a myriad of drawings produced using the little red doohickey, some varying from video game characters to nostalgic icons to real life celebrities. You can check them all out at Etchasketchist’s Flickr photo repository. This amazing artist also has a blogsite (link via Flickr) where you can drop by and leave a note telling him how awesome he is.

I saw this guy’s work on a television show once. He’s pretty amazing. I just hope he never has an earthquake where he lives.
