Deep Shadows, the company that brought gamers the hilariously flawed Boiling Point is gearing up to release a sequel to its buggy first game. White Gold may not feature the flying panthers, crossbow bolts that destroy police stations and grannies with grenades, but it promises hideous giant spiders and shark driving.
The free form game is similar to Just Cause and Far Cry, but sports a far more detailed RPG system. You take on the role of a mercenary in a South American paradise. Players will curry favor from or annoy the military, mafia, police and civilians as they scour three large and six smallish islands, including underwater caves and shipwrecks, for a secret drug production factory. You must locate and destroy it because the drug’s potency is killing celebrities.
White Gold offers 60 main quests with 250 optional side quests, an assortment of usable vehicles from bikes to choppers and a mystery to be solved (that’s where the shark driving comes in). Addiction and a reward system have been worked in as well. White Gold promises at least 40 hours of gameplay.
Hopefully the only bugs we’ll see this time are the giant spiders. Read the full article on CVG.
