What Place Does The Nintendo Wii Have In History?
By William on Monday, July 30th, 2007 at 9:29 AM PST In Editorials, Nintendo, Nintendo

I’ve been a bit of a Nintendo Wii critic in the past and am still not a true believer. Give me my PS3, 360 and a 50†HDTV, surround sound system and I’m one happy camper. That’s not to say that there isn’t a place for the Nintendo Wii. Lately, I have been trying to figure out exactly where Wii’s place will be in history and it’s still a little hard to predict. As far as the “next generation†battle goes, I am convinced that the Microsoft Xbox 360 or Sony PS3 will end up as the champion.
Don’t think I am trying to take away from the Wii’s place in history. The Wii is really the first system in history that got non-gamers out of their closets and into video games. Yesterday, for the first time in American history, a video game competition was televised on CBS as a sports event. The Nintendo Wii certainly had something to do with this event happening in the first place. No Wii games were played in the event, but I believe that video games have become mainstream in a big way because of the system.
Every movement requires a catalyst for change. Only time will tell, but I am willing to bet that the Nintendo Wii is the catalyst for the current peaked interest in video games as a whole. It will never be considered a hard core system by the video game purists and it’s not even that great of a system. However, Nintendo has done a wonderful marketing job and they back the system up with some really innovative peripherals.
Although I am not a big fan of the system, I do believe that the Wii will go down in history honorably. There’s still a lot of time left to see how things go, but I certainly think that this unique system has changed gaming as a whole. The stigma that we are all “basement dwelling, dungeon crawling nerds” is starting to wear off, and we can thank Nintendo for that.

“Wii is shit/horrible” come back when you learn how to properly use the English language. Seriously though, insulting gamers for their choice of console is childish and immature.
As for the Wii’s place in history, it will be based on the games. Zelda was a Gamecube game, it WAS a port to the Wii. Paper Mario was a port too (originally being made for the Cube). The games that will make the Wii stand proud will be the “Big 3.” Metroid is said to be the best First-Person Shooter on a console yet (First-Person Adventure for us hardcore fans). Smash Bros will be the game that will be played for years. To this date, I rarely go a day without a round of Smash. Brawl will be no different. Super Mario Galaxy will be a game for everybody. With perfect controls, easy play, challenging difficulty, Mario will be the Wii’s game.
A console will be remembered by its games, end of story. I didn’t buy my Wii because of the controller. I know the system as technical shortcomings. I bought my Wii for it’s games. When it comes down to it, nobody else can make games that will ever make a historical impact as Nintendo. Mario, Link and Samus will NEVER be forgotten.
Steven, you’re right, that only a few people have upgraded to this gen, but the few that have decide what direction it takes.
You’re a developer, and you’re willing to make an exclusive for one of the systems, and you must decide which one you would like to release it on. This is a big AAA title that will get a lot of coverage and will be the must have game when it comes out. You have 3 choices.
1. The PS3 will cost a lot and take a lot of time for making your game, but the end result will be fantastic looking. However, the number of people who have a PS3 is fairly small. Do you want to spend more money to make the game for the PS3, when compared to the other systems, and run a huge chance of not selling as much?
2. The 360 will give you solid graphics. What kind of game are you making? If its anything but a FPS, you know it won’t do as well as if it were, because most of the people who have a 360 like Halo, and shun any game outside a racing or FPS game. The shoddy products already out have shaken confidence in the 360 as well, are you willing to risk millions on more people buying it?
3. The Wii is cheap when it comes to making your game, and it will also be fast. The number of people who have this system, if the trend keeps up, will be larger than any other system by the time your game is released. It’s even cheap enough that some people may pick up the system just for your game. Only one question, can you design the controls well enough with the motion control?
Choice 3 is the obvious answer. You spend mess and have the potential to make more by releasing your game for the Wii, assuming you look at current trends. If you look at right now, even, you could make more on the 360, but it would cost you less to make your game for the Wii.
Those who have not yet adopted a system won’t do it when the prices go down on the PS3 and 360. They will adopt a new system when they see the 3rd parties starting to favor one system, and they will favor a system depending on what is popular early. The fraction that has upgraded guide the growth for the future, and the future looks bright for the Wii, judging by the trends at this stage of the war.
It may be an underpowered mechine compared to the PS3 and 360, but if it was all hype about the controls, it would have already sank. There’s much more to the Wii than the controls. We can’t know for sure who will be on top even by the end of the year, but its hard to believe the popularity of the Wii will end so suddenly. It’s not the first time a “gimmick” would be successful.
I was definitely not trying to be negative on the Wii. It seems Nintendo fans take the most offense to any statement that doesn’t say the Wii is the greatest thing ever. I do think it’s a cool system, but it’s simply not my cup of tea exactly. I’m the kind of person who is going to say whatever they think, regardless of the consequences.
Definitely do not take my opinion of the Wii as a personal attack..it’s just my opinion of the system. I also would not put down someone who thinks it is the greatest. We all have our opinions. There are legitimate reasons to purchasing all 3 systems on the market right now and that’s an awesome thing. Competition will only help this generation. I know some people wish that we would eventually go back to a 1 or 2 system era, but I really think we need the competition right now to keep things fresh.
you sound like a pretentious, elitist zealot, and i will not take you seriously. I hope others see you as a joke too. Have fun portraying yourself as better than everyone over the internets.
When discussing how good a “system” is, we should really be keeping sales figures out of it. The “best” systems don’t always sell the most. Sales have more to do with marketing strategy and games.
Don,
Some of your comments really make me wonder.
“I think it is a big mistake for software developers to listen to the Hardcore purist. We have seen poorly designed “hardcore” games after another.”
Considering the hardcore gamers are the ones who are going to spend the higher amounts for games and systems, the software developers are smart to listen to them. They are smart to listen to the casual guys too. I’m not saying there is anything wrong with being a casual gamer either. Whatever floats your boat and doesn’t hurt other people, I have no problem with.
“Hardcore gamers laughed when we were playing on the NES and the SNES.”
I consider myself a hardcore gamer and I don’t remember laughing at the systems, but I laughed with them. The NES and SNES were great in my opinion. I was still a kid back then and not completely hardcore about gaming yet, but I still love the old games to this day. I’m not knocking the Wii or Nintendo games of the past at all. If you got that out of my words, perhaps you weren’t reading.
“Look I am 40 years old and most of my friends have Wiis. They gave there children and teenagers the 360 and the PS3. This system average income base is over $100,000. It’s not the price dummy, it’s not the graphics, it’s not the wand. It’s the software stupid.”
So you are a 40 year old who stoops to calling me names because you don’t agree with me. That’s a little strange don’t you think? I certainly do not mind if the Wii is someone’s favorite system. It’s not about the reviewers. It’s about the games. In my opinion it is not the best and I’m not going to lie to make a few people happy. I will always says exactly how I feel about something. I don’t understand how you could possibly say it’s the software at this point. The one thing the Wii lacks is a well rounded library of games. For now, it’s a combination of hype, master marketing and basically original peripherals and some games. I’m not sure why you wouldn’t give the Wii to the kids either. My son has a Wii system that I bought him. Too many of the 360 and PS3 games are adult oriented anyway and he has much more fun playing stuff like Mario or Zelda.
Basically Nintendo fanboys try to rip me apart whenever I don’t say the Wii is the greatest thing ever. It’s just an opinion. I also love debating, but why resort to name calling? We’re just talking about video games man. The beauty of this day in age is that there is a perfect game and a perfect system for everyone out there.
Why do I play games? I play them because I want a highly detailed experience and I want an escape from this reality we call life. Each of us has our own reasons, casual or hardcore. I also love competing against others.
Those of you who think I am trying to bash the Wii… you are just wrong. I think it has it’s place. It’s certainly not something that fits into my tastes exactly, but that’s the beauty of us being unique humans.

I think it’s a fairly safe argument that Nintendo has gotten the masses at least interested in video games; however, I personally just don’t believe the Wii will be able to compete with the other systems.
The Wii controls are gimmicky at best, though it does add variety to the traditional layout of other systems. Once this novelty wears off, i.e. the Wii loses it trendiness (with happens to everything that seeks a mainstream audience), the gaming industry will be left with what it had to begin with – the hardcore gaming audience.
I mean, sure the Wii may be able to rope in your parents/grandparents/casual gamers, but is this audience going to wait 2-3 years in between Final Fantasy releases like Sony’s audience; 2-3 years for Halo releases like Microsoft’s fan base? I tend to believe the Wii will ultimately lose the console war in the long run. I could be wrong, but I’m probably not.#
Hey dippy,
what do you think sells most on the PS2??? Singstar…eye toy…guitar hero…..sponge bob quare pants
Hardly hardcore games wouldnt ya say?
I agree Todd. I am not saying casual gamers are not important, but everything in business comes back to your base. Like with professional sports.. they generate a ton of ticket revenue from random fans when they are winning, but it’s the season ticket holders that keep the team floating when the stands are half empty.
I do not think the general non-gaming consumer has the patience to wait long. That’s why I have mentioned before that Nintendo should really consider dropping a more advanced version of the Wii by next year to keep people excited.
Its a bad idea to listen to “Hardcore Gamers” because there are fewer of them.
For every “Hardcore” there are 100 “Casuals” to match them, so what makes more sense? Listen to the “Hardcore” who spends $10,000 on merchandise or the “Casual” who spends $1,000 on merchandise?
I’ve been a PS fanboy for years, Metal Gear Solid is my favorite game series of all time. But I can’t see a single reason to own a PS3 right now. Resistance is one of the only good exclusives they have right now. I give the PS3 another year before I have a decent reason to buy it. Heavenly Sword, Metal Gear Solid 4, Final Fantasy XIII, God of War 3, these will all be great games, possibly all exclusives.
I knocked the 360 SO VERY MUCH when it first came out. I was such an asshole to people I knew who had them. “The 360 sucks, why’d you waste your money on it?” Now I sit here and then, “Man, I wish I had a 360.” Its impressed the hell out of me, awesome exclusives and beautiful graphics. Microsoft has impressed the right people, evidenced by the fact that Sony exclusives are moving over to the 360, Assassin’s Creed and Devil May Cry 4, being 2 of them.
The Wii has impressed alot of people as well, which is obvious by the fact that its selling so well. You can’t find the damn things anywhere unless you get lucky. Innovative gameplay, excellent exclusives, and beautiful games (you don’t need to be shiny to be beautiful, Twilight Princess looks wonderful) all make the Wii an awesome system. A lower price tag definitely helps as well. Another brilliant idea Nintendo is finally picking up on is not limiting their games. Anyone who calls RE4 a kiddie game needs to reexamine their ideals. Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, Resident Evil 4, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Manhunt. Yeah, it doesn’t have GTA, but GTA sucks anyways.
Working at Gamestop, you meet alot of different people. There are 360 Fanboys, Sony Fanboys, and Nintendo Fanboys. But the lines are starting to blur. People realize that all the systems have their good points and bad points. My manager bashed the Wii like crazy before it came out. He got to play it once and he was hooked on it. People love the Wii. As I said earlier, I bashed the 360 and praised the PS3. Once I got to sit back and watch both develop from a retail and video gamer pov, my opinions switched. I bashed the PS3 and praised the 360. Now that both are out, I give people my honest opinion on which they should buy: Pick up a 360 now, wait about a year then pick up a PS3.
I preach alot, sorry. Continue on.
I just have some things to add. I happily own a Nintendo Wii first off. And about this guy saying how he cant stand playing a game where somebody can just pick up the Wiimote and bowl an almost perfect game against them, then you must suck at bowling. That has nothing to do with the Wii. If you would have read the interview about how the Wiisports games were made, you would find out that they dont have any coding to help make the game harder for no reason…which means “ah, gasp!” you hafta actually bowl! What a concept! A game that is actually played by skill and not by button mashing! And as for a little kid beating u at tennis?!?! You must not have learned how to control the ball…which is once again all fairly accurate physic based on real tennis! So you either never handled the Wii and are just saying out of opinion or u have handled it but only for the “1st 5 minutes and then it got boring”…it actually takes a good half an hour to figure out how to accurately control the ball…and longer to master. As Nintendo did say “you cannot hit the ball the same exact way twice out of a hundred times”. You can read all of this on Nintendo.com.
And as for this graphics suck bullsh*t, get over it. It’s fun and that’s all that matters. I also believe that the graphics will improve very much with time. As we will be seeing here shortly.
And as for purists go…ur not a purist if u dont give the Wii atleast a chance.
“It will never be considered a hard core system by the video game purists and it’s not even that great of a system.”
Still living in denial, huh? Grow up.
People saying that because the Wii is a trend to the masses, answer me this:
If it’s a trend, what is there to replace it?
For one trend to go, it needs to be replaced. There is no trend to replace the Wii in that field at the moment.
Oh and to add another thing just to show that I am not just “all about Nintendo”, even though I am(haha), I see good things in the PS3 and the XBOX 360…well if it wasn’t for the LACK OF GOOD GAMES for the PS3 and the LACK OF RELIABILITY a.k.a. defect rate of the 360…gotta hate it when your a fan of a machine that is made by a money giant like Microsoft huh?…well i guess they are losing a lot of that money now huh??? Hahaha….and, as for the “gimmicky Wiimote”? Ummm i could be wrong but didn’t Sony copy off of some of it’s motion at the very last moment???? Soooo that isn’t gimmicky? Whatsoever? I would think it’s MORE gimmicky because its hardly used…and when it is its very poor…oh and it doesn’t even partially compare to the Wiimote…atleast when used right.
Wamp..if you want to take about motion technology, Sony has been in that business much longer than Nintendo. I think some people are assuming I am against casual gamers here, but I’m really not. Both casual and hard core gamers have unique purposes in all of this.
Joelton, I agree that a trend needs to be replaced and actually that’s what has kept the Wii up for so long. I simply cannot consider it a serious system right now. Perhaps if they form corporate sponsored teams to compete in Wii games, then I can see a little more legitimacy to the hard core claims some people make for the system.
Honestly, I see it as a fun idea and a system with some potential. Games like Zelda, Metroid, Mario etc. are the heart and soul of Nintendo and extremely fun games, but still very casual in nature. There’s nothing wrong with that.
I actually play flash games on the web daily.. also an extremely casual activity. Some people believe that the hard core gamers don’t matter that much because they are in the minority, but they really do matter. Who subscribes to all the magazines and takes the gambles on systems early in the game? Of course it’s the hard core people. The casual gamers drive the sales in the end, but everyone has their place.
I also think the difference between casual and hardcore will eventually merge into one another in the future. If things keep going the way they are, more and more casual gamers will become hardcore by default.
There’s definitely a competitiveness with this generation that hasn’t been seen since the Sega Genesis took on Nintendo years ago and I think it’s a good thing…definitely not something to take too personal though. There really is a unique quality or qualities to all 3 systems out right now.

I do have some good Wii news to report
http://news.filefront.com/bleach-shattered-blade-nintendo-wii-trailer/
watching this trailer bumped my opinion of the system up a notch.
William…i understand that Sony has been involved with that tech…but My point is why do people make fun of the motion and say it’s a gimmick? Sony has it…and they didn’t have the balls to ever use it until Nintendo showed their cards. Oh and how can you call Zelda a full fledged casual game???? Yes it has relaxing casual parts…but it is not clearly a casual game….and Metroid!?!? Your nuts.
i don’t necessarily call the motion a complete gimmick.. i think one of the other comment people said that. trendy..perhaps. Time could prove any of us wrong really.
Zelda and Metroid are casual for the most part.. casual doesn’t mean “not challenging” in my book.
The way things are right now, i think the Wii holds on to their spot with the neat peripherals. If they start cranking out more games like the ones I mentioned above, then things could change. I don’t have a 100% idea about anything.. at this point things could change by the end of the year or next year.
What I do know is that Nintendo has some work ahead of them.. it’s not clear sailing like some people think and they absolutely need some sort of upgraded Wii out by next year even if it’s just a memory upgrade or something like that.
I think the problem with the debate over casual and hard core games is the definition and everyone has a different one. When I mention hard core, I’m talking about games that are common in competition. If you can play a game professionally then I say it’s automatically a hard core game. If it’s something that is only played with friends and family, it’s more on the casual side of things.
It just all depends on the definition used. There really are no clear rules in this industry.
At the whole Zelda is casual debate, well it isn’t is it? Two days worth plus of game-play is hardly casual, compared to say something like MGS1 which has 10 ish hours, less, but is easily considered ‘hard core’. Granted there is a storage difference, but take MGS2 then. Even then, Zelda has many more hours of game-play and to get everything in Zelda, you need to be pretty hardcore (or use gamefaqs) whilst the only thing in MGS2 that’s ‘hard-core’ is the fact that you have to get the name tags and that’s just downright boring to do. The same thing over and over. Getting all the heart pieces in Zelda means going somewhere different, trying something different and getting a reward. Granted, you can get rewards with ‘hard-core’ playing of MGS2, but that doesn’t have anything like the Cave of Trials, which is stupidly difficulty. “Ran out of hearts, all the way to the top…start all over again.”
The fact that Zelda also isn’t an RPG, of which they are usually considered to be pretty hard-core and has game-play lengths of usually quite a long time and that Zelda can sometimes equal this length says that Zelda, as just one of many examples, provides a good repetoire of hard-core gaming for the Wii/Nintendo.
I think the Wii will be remembered of bringing ‘fun’ back into gaming. Not just the rewarding feeling of completing the game, I mean actual enjoyment fun each time you play it. That being said, Sonic and the Secret Rings isn’t being that fun at the mo
You need to be pretty hard-core to get everything in that and boy am I trying!
haha. I have really lost my love for Sonic over the years. They need to take it back old school and bring back the stuff we loved in the first place.
Wii not hardcore? Hm… let’s think of this years game releases shall we?
Metroid Prime 3, Battalion Wars 2, Fire Emblem 10, Super Mario Galaxy, NiGHTS, Mario & Sonic at the Olympics, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles, Super Smash Bros Brawl, Wii Music and more that I can’t think off the top of my head.
Of all of these I think that Fire Emblem and Battalion Wars 2 are the most hardcore games out there. You have to be hardcore to know how great they are.
But this is going to be a big year for Ninty. We have the “Holy Trinity” plus other great games for the hardcore crowd.
Also on a side note, Aunouma (spellin?) said that in Phantom Hourglass there is a dungeon where casual gamers have an easier time than hardcore gamers. Well I thought it was neat…
But anyway, the Wii is a great system. Sure the game drought right now is so booooring, but starting in August things will start to heat up.
I have no complaints against any one system, although I don’t own a PS3 though. After looking at the upcoming releases for the PS3, there isn’t enough for me to justify buying one because a lot of the games are multiplatform with the exception of of a few here and there. As for the Wii and 360, I have to say that I am more excited about the games coming down the pipeline for the Wii over the 360.
After all I can only digest so many FPSs a year, yeah I’m talking about you 360. Anyways, the Wii offers more variety of gaming experiences when comparing all three systems. I do wish there we4re a few more FPSs on the Wii though, but Metroid will soon fill the First Person craving I have for the system though. My systems of choice are Wii and 360, with Wii leading in my household.
@ William – Don’t worry, Secret Rings is basically a 2d game with 3d graphics. What I mean by that is, yeah, there’s only one track for you to follow, but it’s so much like the old games it’s actually rather good. For example, in the old games, all you ever did was press right or left and A, B or C, well, now it’s tilting left or right (and forwards and back) and button 2. Considering Sonic games are now obliged to be in 3d, this is as good as I think it can get in terms of back to basics. Though I am aware I need to play Adventure and to pick up a copy of CD. But yes, Sonic lately has gone down the *lavatory*. I did a Sonic Heroes review on the GamingForums part of FileFront that was practical-uses for the disc, that was how bad I thought it was.
@Neon – “Holy Trinity” = Win
Gotta say though, I don’t quite think Sonic and Mario at the Olympics is going to be….anywhere near good. Might be entertaining for its crapness value of course
Wow, I am fascinated by the responses here. Yes, I read them all, so I will try to address the issues that stuck out to me the most.
Myth #1 — “The Wii is making all of its money off children.” — I attend a university and work at Best Buy. My wife and I own a Wii, and we have no kids. Our married neighbors have a Wii and no kids. I know a dozen other married couples who own Wii and either have no kids or have an infant whose arms and legs do not even function yet. At Best Buy, people come in all the time requesting a Wii. Of those people, some are parents of younger kids, but most are guys ranging in age from 18 to 26 who saved up their own money in hopes of getting their hands on one. When I ask them, the Wii is always for themselves, not some child they have back home. If anything, Nintendo has the added market of kids (thus making more money on top of the adult crowd), unlike Sony and Microsoft.
Myth #2 — “The Wii is nothing more than a Gamecube 2.0!” — I find this argument extremely amusing. OK, so the Wii’s graphics firepower is barely on par with the original XBox. According to the “hardcore masses”, graphics are all it takes for a game to be awesome. All I can say is this: thank the heavens for game rental stores. I have played my fair share of games that look amazing but play horribly. Let us not forget that the Wii has a Bluetooth, WiFi, USB, and (for the first time for Nintendo) a hard drive. Those are all things that the Gamecube did not feature. I could easily say that “PS3 is nothing more than PS2 2.0″ or “XBox 360 is nothing more than XBox 2.0″. Nintendo simply chose to upgrade in areas aside from graphics.
Myth #3 — “The Wii controls are gimmicky at best.” — This one takes the cake. Wii’s control scheme is the whole reason it is whipping both the PS3 and XBox 360 in sales. I personally believe that the standardized dual analog stick controller is gimmicky and overused. So, why is it still around? Because IT WORKS. It is the same for the Wii remote and nunchuk. They are doing well today because they work! Also, people often forget that Nintendo has both bases covered. Did you know that Wii games can take advantage of Gamecube controllers? That means that if by some mystical turn of events the Wii remote dropped in popularity, Nintendo could continue on making “classic control” games by means of the ‘cube controller. There, you have your dual analog controls back… happy? XD
WTF? Did someone delete my post???
lol acording to william a game has to be underground to be hardcore. things are not that black & white in gaming anymore. the only reason Metroid and Zelda could be considered casual is that the names have been around for 20 years. other than that they are very hardcore in nature.
“So you are a 40 year old who stoops to calling me names because you don’t agree with me. That’s a little strange don’t you think?”
Well William I wasn’t calling you names I was making a play on words from Bill Clinton speeches. I am not here to hurt your feelings. You had your opinion and I have mine. I do want to clear up a few of your statements.
“Considering the hardcore gamers are the ones who are going to spend the higher amounts for games and systems, the software developers are smart to listen to them.”
Hardcore gamers by definition demand longer more complex games to master and play. The spend most of there leisure time playing games. They are by the latest polls often lower income people. How does that translate into spending more on games? The vast majority of PS2 games were not in the hardcore catagory yet the majority of XBox games were. If your theory was correct the XBox should have killed the PS2. Yet the PS2 was more successful and profitable on the back of casual gamers. The PC platform was the core system for hardcore gaming. Very little of what was developed was for casual gamers. I believe that I own more games then any hardcore gamer I know not counting the PC.
“It’s about the games. In my opinion it is not the best and I’m not going to lie to make a few people happy. I will always says exactly how I feel about something. I don’t understand how you could possibly say it’s the software at this point. The one thing the Wii lacks is a well rounded library of games. For now, it’s a combination of hype, master marketing and basically original peripherals and some games.”
You do have an opinion and I believe you are wrong. The Wii is the only system with a well rounded software library. Take a look at what the other systems have to offer. Madden was pretty, but it didn’t even have Madden in it. Wii has sports, racing games, FPS, platform games, party games, Music oriented games coming out, kids games, adult games. The only hype in this market is Hi-Def gaming and online play. This has been a staple of PC gaming for ten years. Master marketing? Nentendo spent the least amount of money saying only that you will have fun. The people buying the game along with word of mouth is selling the Wii. The main complaint I heard with the 360 is the lack of original games. Everything looks better but its all XBox 2.0. In my home I have a Madden 07, Legend of Zelda, Resident Evil, Mario Party 8, Red Steel, Sonic, the bigs, mario strikers, Dragon Ball Z, Godfather, Excite Truck, SSX, Mortal Kombat, Super Paper Mario, Brain Age, Elebits, Along with a host of VC games. If that’s not well rounded I don’t know what is. The only catagory I left out was a flying game. (I refuse to do a game on a console that plays better on a PC FPS excluded due to wii remote)
I think that we could talk about this for years and it will all come down to an opinion. I had this same arguement with the XBox PS2 Gamecube. My prediction to the hardcore gamers then was PS2 by a landslide with a Gamecube XBox tie for last. My arguement then is the same as now. Hardcore gamers can’t sustain a system and run innovative game development. My prediction this time, Wii, PS3 and 360 in a tie.
Unfortunately, this post had to be removed due to the large amount of profanity in it.

What kind of processer does the Wii have?
Lol, William, umm…When was Sony into motions? was it the Eye Toy? Err 2004? Well, if you don’t remember, the power glove was made in 1989, While Playstation came out in 1994…So don’t try and say Sony was in the “motion” business longer then Nintendo. Searching through the history, I can not find a single thing about Motion Sensors..the Eye Toy apparently has been buried and killed. Also, Calling the Wii is a smaller gamecube? Well…then 360 is pretty much the same size as 360, and ps3 is a little bit bigger then PS2, Size has nothing to do with anything.
PS3 and 360 are pretty much computers, you can run all of these high graphic games….But what about the game play? Just holding a controller? Pressing X? B? Triangle? Very fun…Making people sit on their butts and playing video games, how fun is that…But for Wii, Sitting is optional, yet not rarely done! Wii has people moving with the game. Hand swiping..jabbing and what not, although people who don’t handle it proper can get injured…maybe it’s because they are use to just setting their controller on the ground and pushing buttons. Please, also refer to me a Sony system or a Microsoft system that has a touch screen?
Nintendo is a true gaming company…Just because it looks good and sounds good make it just a screensaver…Wii is truly a 3rd generation system, it may not have good graphics, good sound, or cool games, it’s still revolutionary in the ways of originality…On the other side, PS3 and 360 pretty much kept the same controls. But wait! they booster their memory, gave them a hard drive, I dunno Gave it 4 cylinders so you can drive it to work on high gas mileage? I doubt it…Microsoft and Sony are about the 4D graphics, Surround sound and 7 billion watt outlets…for a PS3 and 360, you need to spend and extra $1,000 for a TV to go with it. But a Wii looks the same on any TV, making it a high seller for it’s low prices, Wii’s prices are set low because I doubt they are going any lower.
Final words; PS3s and 360s are for the kids and adults who lives with their parents while Wii is for those people who actually own a business suit and a briefcase. Tell me, do you know of any adults who actually have a high paying job that own a PS3 or 360 and have not had any help in building it? List me 3 and we’ll talk. So PS3 and 360 are for those people who are into sex, blood, killing and whatever. Which makes senators want to pass bills that ban games. while Nintendo…I don’t think has even shown anything more then a thigh LOL.
PS3,360= Sad people who like virtual women more then real life women…
Wii= Mature people who actually play games that are healthy and get into bed with their lover to use that healthiness they gained from the Wii. Swiping motions for butt spanking or jabbing for…other things LOL
