Weirdest…trailer…of the day. SouthPeak Games has just released this new trailer for their upcoming strategy game for the DS, Ninjatown. The video above makes a bit more sense once you realize that the game is based on a line of plush toys from Shawnimals. Here’s a breakdown of the gameplay and story:
“A diverse group of fun-loving Ninjas populate the vibrant yet peaceful place known as Ninjatown. However, after the eruption of a nearby volcano, Ninjatown is attacked by hordes of sinister enemies lead by Mr. Demon, who, for reasons unknown, is bent on destruction. It is now time to use each of the Ninjas’ unique skills and powers – including the Mighty Wind of Ninja Dropping and Stealth Hugs – to fight off the evil and secure Ninjatown, one district at a time. The game is played from the top down, where the player uses the stylus to strategically place Ninjas to defend each area. The action is non-stop!”
Ironically, when I first saw the trailer, my first question was “What does Ninja Dropping do? Fling himself at people?” With a unique style and interesting setup, this game looks like it could be a lot of fun on the DS. You can also check out some screenshots for the game here. And by “screenshots,” I mean concept art; and by “concept art,” I mean bizarre cartoons of stumpy ninjas and a four-eyed monster.
