First off your attitude is hardly ever nice when it comes to commenting on anything I post on here Frostpaw, and secondly I don't care if you are the damn director of the game let alone a beta tester because I have been waiting, along with MANY people for this game to come out SINCE E3 2003, and also since we officially heard about the possibility of it in 2000 - which is EIGHT years ago. E3 2003 was FIVE years ago. Thirdly, the information I pulled which I used to reply to your smarmy comment came from not only IGN but also a Warhammer sister site. So, if you would like to go onto THEIR comments section and tell them that they are wrong as well in the same hateful tone, please be my guest. Finally, as far as pissing you off with my "sheer arrogance" it sounds to me like you have some arrogance issues yourself, and if you for one second think that I harbor any sort of arrogance in my personal being than you sir, are completely and utterly wrong about me. I am far from arrogant.

This is a news BLOG, I repeat, a news BLOG. Therefore, we are encouraged to voice our opinion. I cannot stress that enough, and I have told people this little tidbit until I have become blue in the face, so have some of our other writers, particularly our content manager. We appreciate it and encourage everyone who visits our site to comment and debate as much as they want, however, when it starts becoming nasty and just plain insulting, like you have regarding this piece, then it is no longer fun for anyone except maybe those who love a good soap opera, which I do not.

Therefore, I refuse to argue with you further on this matter, and I would hope that in the future, you would refrain from ruining someone's impatient excitement for a game like you have mine.

I'm doing the math...May 2005 to May 2008 is 3 years, fair enough I was 6months out, still you think thats a long time for an mmo to be developed?

So either you think 3 years is a long time to wait for an mmo

or

You think Warhammer: Age of Reckoning/WAR developed by EAMythic begun work in 2002 With Climax as the developer?

Neither of which are true. What I take seriously is a news reporter that dosn't understand the news they are reporting, unyet has a little dig about its development time while reporting it.
I'm not here reporting news I'm here to read it but when I apparently know more about the subject then the reporter I can't help but point out its wrong....to then be argued with just pisses me off because its sheer arrogance. I was there for the Climax Warhammer MMO and I'm currently involved in the development of the EAMythic MMO as a tester.

I have a hard time believing you are cut up about waiting for a game which you don't even know when its development cycle began....true fan eh?

"As early as 2000, Climax spied the Warhammer IP as a project worthy of their interest and efforts. Despite having no experience in the burgeoning field of online RPGs, Climax engaged the project fully and built up some buzz through E3 videos and limited press. An early partnership with Microsoft to build up the back-end technology went into the works.

By 2002, Climax joined to work hand-in-hand with Games Workshop in order to transform one of their most recognizable IP’s into a hit MMO, and with SEGA distributing the game, they named the venture “Warhammer Online Ltd.”

The Climax team, who received a nice boost in profile at E3 2003, struggled to show something — anything — new at E3 2004. Battles between Climax and GW about the art and animation were cited as a major holdup. It quickly became obvious that Climax bit off more than it could program, and planned features were scaled back or cut altogether.

By June 2004, GW took an inventory of the project, which they estimated would take $30 million to finish and launch (in comparison, Star Wars Galaxy took $30 million to fully develop, and World of Warcraft $60 million). GW deemed it to be too expensive, and stopped funding the project. This didn’t fully kill Warhammer Online, though, as Climax continued to fund the project out of their own pockets and struggled to find a publishing partner. Unfortunately for them, it didn’t happen, and Climax’s Warhammer project was officially canceled for good by the end of the year.

About five months later,May 18 2005, the Warhammer Online license had been acquired by Mythic Entertainment and they started over on the entire project, creating their own vision of the Warhammer world."

Therefore, EA Mythic's development of the Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning game began in 2005 and here it is, 2008.

You do the math.

I swear, some gamers take everything too seriously sometimes, and it reminds me of a Comic Book Guy quote:

"Worst episode ever. Rest assured, I was on the internet within minutes, registering my disgust throughout the world."

If you bother to Google Climax and Warhammer Online you'll find a gamespot article and a wiki entry specifying Climax ceased development of Warhammer Online on the 21st of June 2004. That project ceased to exist because GW had enough of giving Climax money for nothing.

TWO WHOLE YEARS LATER

In 2006 Mythic aquired a license from GW to make a new Warhammer game with a new game concept on a different engine with no assets from the Climax game whatsoever.

This is the second news article you have posted regarding this apparent "long development" cycle and I corrected you in the first one too. Please...spend more time researching your subject it took me 10minutes to look it up just now.

"No wonder it has taken so long"

2.5 years in development for WAR. Thats about 50% the development time of other mmo games.
