Remember awhile back when it was rumored that Xbox World 360’s next issue would feature some exclusive information about Goldeneye for the Xbox Live Arcade? Good times. Remember when Microsoft shot down the whole article as being “based entirely on rumour and speculation?” Not so good times. But nevertheless, scans of the article have now made their way online, making it all the more depressing that this title may never see the light of day. According the magazine though, the game was far from being complete, with only the Dam level being fully finished. The article also states that Nintendo’s Reggie Fils-Aime supported the project, until the Japanese head honcho, Satoru Iwata, said that he didn’t want the title appearing on another console under any circumstances. Apparently, the idea of getting on Nintendo’s bad side caused Activision to pull the plug. Again though, that could all just be idle rumor is Microsoft’s statement is to be believed. A moment of silence please for the mother of all modern-day updates that will never be (*cue organ playing “Danny Boy”).

I hate consoles. Most of their attempts at FPS suck. The exception is GoldenEye. GoldenEye is THE game. It consumed many hours of me and my friends lives ‘back in the day’ and is really the only console game I will put on the same level as the better PC games.
It is really a sad day for gamers.
well, obviously it wouldnt come out for the Xbox 360. Goldeneye is THE Nintendo shooter. to put it on/remake it for a different console would basically be taking away Nintendo’s one REALLY good shooter. if anywhere, it will appear on the Virtual Console (wii’s version of the Xbox LIVE Arcade for those who dont know)
You know….Metroid Prime is a Nintendo shooter too. And it is a damn good shooter at that, completely underrated as far as media hype is concerned.
I’ve said this once and I’ll say it again. The N64 controller was the far superiour controller and still is when it comes to first person shooters. I would love to see someone mod a 64 controller for use with the 360 or PS3 and then whore all the people that are using the regular console controllers. I’m sorry but the up, down, left, and right c-buttons was the shit. It was just like haveing the up, down, left and right keys on a keyboard for PC fps’s. And I don’t care how much you bitch about it; you can not beat the Z-trigger on that controller.
So to sum it up.
N64 = Great Controller
Rare = Great Controller Scheme
Get your act together and release me an ultra hot fps for the next nintendo console that comes out… I know you can do it.
