i always keep my ps3 clean (inside and out) just buy a dust remover and use it outside (not inside) to avoid inhaling it lol, wipe it a little then everything is clean how hard could that be? it would probably take you 20 seconds to clean your ps3 and this guy can’t even do it..maybe it’s true hes payed by MS but who give shit i’m pretty sure most ps3 owners always clean theirs…

Why wont this story just die already. It is so boring! The PS3 is in shit condition and he did not deserve a new one. He brings shame to the gaming market and I would have refused to fix it if I had the chance. He needs to grow up and look after what he buys. He should consider himself extremely lucky, that’s for sure!

The guy is a professional actor.

I’ll bet he was paid by Microsoft so this story would get publicity.

Honestly, you have to try REALLY HARD to get that much dust on your system…. so much dust that it can pretty much be considered “dirt”.

The Consumerist that is reporting this “story” is owned by Gawker Media, which is anti-Sony, pro-Microsoft – probably due to Microsoft’s advertising dollars. Kotaku and Gizmodo are owned by Gawker Media as well and they’re quite biased against Sony as well.

Why i wouldnt trade mine for all the damn tea in china…nevermind let it come to looking like it was used as a dust sheet while someone was sanding above it i mean come on. You cant blame playstation for refusing…this is a joke!

Honestly, I don’t see how you could possibly get this much dust and dirt on a PS3. It would take years and years for it to get like that. I am really suspicious that the person intentionally made it that way. If it was unintentional, I’d hate to see how nasty the environment is where he plays the PS3.

Did you guys see anything about this? I think i saw something about the guy that supposedly owns this unit; it’s in the internet somewhere that the guy is an actor working for ms. I don’t if this is true but I saw this somewhere.

I think the level of dust on that PS3 goes above and beyond what I would consider to be normal wear and tear. I’m on Sony’s side on this one. There is no excuse to let a sensitive piece of hardware get that dirty…..

I agree. Whenever you send something in to be repaired, you clean it up as much as possible so it looks as if you couldn’t have done anything wrong to it. However this level of dust, grime and dirt makes it seem more like because of how the person treated it, it’s broken (most basic warranties do not cover user-inflicted punishment or damage)

Its good he has gotten it repaired. But if you were sending it to sony or other product you had to return for repair, wouldnt you want to make it look half presentable.

All that dirt and dust, no wonder why they refused him. I would bet a few paper towels and a can of compressed air to clean it would have gotten sony to repair it. its his own fault for showing sony what shape it was in.
