virtual console Virtual Console Gifts Both Region and Country LockedIf you’ve got a friend in another country and want to send them a Virtual Console game, you better come up with a better plan than using the Virtual Console’s new gifting feature. As you might expect, the feature is region locked, so you can’t send things to and from those residing in Europe and Japan.

Not only that, but you can’t even send to another country, such as from the United States to Canada. While I don’t think this will impact many gamers, it’s still an item worth nothing in case a situation ever arises where you want to send a VC game to another country.

I haven’t actually tried this yet, because as it stands, I don’t buy many Virtual Console games for myself. Plus, I don’t know many people who have a Wii, let alone any that can find one.

Why would they block it if the game were available in that country? Just seems like a way to lose money. And customers.
