Video Games Live Album

If you missed the fantastic Video Games Live concert tour in your area, here is your chance to get a taste of what has made this tour a must see event. EMI Classics, IMG artists and Video Games Live have collaborated to produce an album of some of the most beloved video game themes of all time. Video Games Live: Greatest Hits – Volume One features some of the best show segments created and arranged with the original composers, most of which haven’t previously been released. The album will be released 15th October 2007.

Video Games Live: Greatest Hits – Volume One includes medleys from some of the biggest games ever released, including Zelda, Mario, Halo, Warcraft, Sonic, Tron, Myst, Civilization IV and Final Fantasy. The anthology CD was compiled by renowned video game composers and Video Games Live co-creators Tommy Tallarico and Jack Wall. The album features the Slovak National Orchestra as well as the Crouch End Chorus and the “Video Game Pianist” – Martin Leung. The album was mixed and recorded at the world famous Abbey Road recording studios in London.

The album’s release is timed to coincide with the Video Games Live concert on October 19 at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, California during the EForAll Expo. It will be performed by members of the Philharmonia Orchestra at London’s Royal Festival Hall on 22nd October as the opening event of the London Games Festival.

Video Games Live is a growing phenomenon appealing to gamers and non-gamers alike on a global scale. Sophisticated orchestral arrangements are augmented with spectacular visuals, lighting effects and interactivity including live game play. Although the album will only capture one facet of the Video Games Live experience, hopefully this collaboration heralds a live performance DVD in the near future.
