Video Games Distributed in Quebec to Be Available in French by 2009Language is part of a culture’s identity, and the Office Quebecois de la Langue Francaise could not agree more. In fact, they insist on it.

We mentioned before about a deal that the Office had with the Entertainment Software Association of Canada, and according to a recent story by The Canadian Press, that deal has gone through. By 2009, most video games which will be distributed in Quebec will be available in French by 2009.

According to the article, it will come at a considerable cost to each of the ESA’s members. Currently, about 40 percent of games in Quebec are available in French, and the benchmark has been set at 80 percent by 2009.
