“Video Game Killer” Claims Trial Was Unfairly Restricted

Alabama’s Attorney General urged an appelate court to completely reject the arguments that convicted murderer Devin Moore killed two Fayette, Alabama police officers and a dispatcher in 2003 because of the video game Grand Theft Auto.
This murder case has been spotlighted by many vultures in the media as a perfect example of how video games can cause violence. Devin Moore claims that Grand Theft Auto made him do it.
Moore is claiming that the state would not allow expert witnesses testify to back up his claim that a video game made him kill. Fortunately the Attorney General of Alabama doesn’t buy into that hokey claim and did not allow any such testimony. If more states and organizations reject the idea that video games cause violence, we may be able to put an end to this absurd argument one of these days.
Nunnelley said reliance on a “novel theory” that repetitive video game exposure leads to violent behavior doesn’t stand up to scientific scrutiny.
“He did not precisely imitate what he had done in a video game,” Nunnelly said. “He never shot anyone, he never killed anyone [before].”
If we are going to blame the game for violence, we might as well blame Ron Howard for the movie Grand Theft Auto. Why stop there?

Lol, the media always tries to show how ‘Video games are affecting society’, Don’t they have anyone else to annoy?
perhaps they should go after something truly terrible like meth labs or would that be too obvious. I assume the whole shock of video game violence to the common person will wear off and they’ll have to move on to something different.
I’m really waiting for they day they prescribe drugs to treat video games. If you play more than 4 hours a day, they give you 80mg of prozac sort of thing.
