Valve Speaks on Half-Life 2: Episode 3

Eurogame’s Tom Bramwell has an interview with Valve’s marketing director Doug Lombardi. He says with Episode 2 in the final stages of production, Episode 3 is in preproduction and will be ramping up very quickly. Valve hints that Episode three will finally take the gamer out of City 17. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the series, while fans wait for “Half-Life 3″ to hit shelves, Valve has been issuing episodic additions to the Half-Life 2 storyline.

I think the news is about the fact that we wont return there for Episode 3 either, but that Lombardi is intimating we may be seeing something quite different for the setting by then. Though I don't think saying we aren't going back to City 17 is not a big revelation based on the fact there is not probably much left after Half-Life 2 and Episode 1's ending.

I think they know that Clinton..hence the "Half-life 3" comment in the news piece, but what makes you think it'll be less than 6 years before Episodes 1-3 are released?
We're already pushing that because of the delays between Episode 1 and 2.. how long till episode 3? Another two years? Valve did not win me over to episodic gaming with this.. they just proved they can't do short term projects.. they have to make a major development cycle out of everything they do.
Does getting Team Fortress and Portal with Episode 2 make up for the delay? Maybe not.. I wanted to see them ride the excitement from the first episode but that interest has cooled for most folks now.. its been a year! I would buy TF2 as a game.. I don't like that it delayed the release of HL2:Ep2 if that is indeed the case.

I've heard half life episode 3 will take place in the artic as seen in a short clip of ep 2 or 1 trailer.

well i dont care what anyone says about it all i know is good games take time.
and if i have to wait a while to play or see it i will.
when cs source cam out i bought the package and included in it was
half life 2.so i played cs:source then one day i decided to try it out.
i loved it to the end.and now ive clocked it like 4-5 times thats how much
i injoyed it.
i actualy played half life2 more than cs:source.i havent got episode 1 yet but i im planning on getting all 3 of them in the end.and i hope they make alot more half life games

To be honest, Half-life 2: Episode 2 was well worth the wait. And if you want more, then I'll say that portal was also, well worth the wait. Any delay that we had to endure was fine, considering the "awesomeness" of both games. I know, I've played and beaten them both. They're both extremely well-crafted games. Plus, I think that valve chose to use episodes because at the end of each episode there is some sort of revelation, or dramatic event. I won't give anything away here, but the end of episode 2 is making very anxious to play the next installment…but in a good way. I'd say they were, and will be, worth the wait.

Episode 2 was AWESOME! Valve definitely heard gamers' complaints that episode 1 was too short, they made this one perfect! The environments are rich and the battles are heated, and they didn't skimp on the plot either. Can't wait for episode 3!

WOW What a game,just finished EP 2 and I've got to say that was one hell of a game although I thought it was a bit short but maybe I'm just being greedy!I shall now enter hibernation mode and await EP 3…

Well I just finished playing HL2 EP2 and I have to say I'm really impressed with how valve has continued and expanded the storyline. The ending was extremely well thought of that makes the gamer want to play EP3 ASAP. I understand valve has other projects, but I'm going to be bummed because we all know EP3 will take a good year or year in a half to complete. To bad I couldn't meet up with some of them and "discuss" future installments

Hm, well, it looks like in the next episode the worlds of Aperture Labs and Black Mesa collide (Portal and Half-Life 2)… As the supercomputer from Portal jokingly said "Maybe Black Mesa…", it seems it will actually be more or less true. Which I think is rather interesting. IIRC, Aperture Labs goes back as Black Mesa's competitor for teleportation technology.
This could explain why Valve wanted to release Portal and EP2 together. And no, Portal was not done back in January 2007 (when EP2 was supposedly finished). The teaser released around that time showed a game that was more or less the same, but completely different. The recursion for Portals, was done by taking a still screenshot at that point, and placing it into another portal as a texture. This was hopelessly inefficient, of course. Besides, all the levels were different.

Yeah ep 2 - great game, but frustratingly short. but the story does keep you drooling for more. the battles were also really well done, and some good puzzles in there too. I'd suggest sticking it straight on to hard to play it first time, will make it more satisfying. I did that with EP1 but not this one
ah well. Portal was also awesome! the 'ending' had me well excited

There are very few games that I will play through multiple times. If we have to wait for episode 3… I will have fun playing HL1, HL2, HL2ep1, HL2ep2, and portal again before it comes out.

I'd recommend Opposing Force and Blue Shift (Hi-res pack was in this expansion). Though they are all pretty cheap so you might just get the Platinum pack if you don't already have TFC.

Hehehe just finished EP2 and it was great. When leaving the farm just before racing the helicopter down the tracks to the first tunnel, Just as you get to the tracks if you cross the tracks there is just enough space at the end of the fence on the far side to crash through into a restricted zone out of the normal game area. That was crazy fun for a while driving around in the air. It was funny because I drove off the edge of the world and flipped the car onto it's top. Alyx was still strapped in and complaining so I hit the car with the gravity gun and righted it then headed out towards the vortex.

Wel,well,well, was give HalfLife 2 Episode 1 as a gift, compleated it in just over a day, then i got HalfLife Episode 2, also compleated that in a day, both was good game, some very hard parts in it, specialy on Part 6, defending the Silo against the attack, that was realy haed, kepted running out of ammo.lol
I like to see Episode 3 to this game very soon. Like to know what happens after the rocket is launched, where to they go next.????
Fantasic games tho, im normaly a gammer on like Call of Duty 2, Battlefield .ect Getting COD4 next month, but love to play next episode of Halflife when it arrives, when will this be.. Also when is HalfLife 3 due out…??

ive completed all the half life 2 games and the episode 1 and 2 leaves you on a cliff hanger and thier too short but they are amazing. I thoguht there was another half life 2 called half life 2 lost coast i played a demo and that was out of sector 17 … HALF LIFE ROCKS

Lost coast is a 'lost level' it's just one level that you can play that was a tech demo for HDR before Episode 1 came out.

As if it wasn't said enough, ep2 was amazing. To me, it seems, they bring the bar up each time, so its just as amazing to me each time. I think that ep2 was damn amazing, DESPITE my ONE COMPLAINT: No new one piece hand held weapons! WTF MAN, WTF. some guy a shit load of lines up spoke of a reference to ep2 making him cry. I agree! I agree that is was a VERY sad ending. Dramatic, climactic and well exucted as well as sad. I however didn't cry.

AlexFromBrampton….. there is lot's wrong with me! Where should I begin? Nevermind…. back to the Half Life universe…, most likely we will be traveling to the stars in ep. 3. On a cargo ship named The Borealis. It's where there may be a dangerous new technology (developed by Black Mesa rivals Aperture Science). We may need to retrieve the tech before the evil Combine get hold of it.
And no…. this is not made up in my head. Read page 059 of the November issue of PC Gamer (bottom half of page) to see a small write up and a picture of The Borealis.

Just Finished Half Life 2 Episode 2 it took 7.5 hours and the ending will leave marks in my heart. Anyway i loved it so much and just wished they would have made it a bit longer, overall better then HL episode 1 and the graphics make it so much more thrilling. PS. I thought Half Life 2 Episode 3 was somewhere in the Antarctic.

OK, forgive the stupid questions. .. but:
I have played HL1 (the day it came out), HL Blue Shift, HL Opposing Force, HL2, HL2-Ep1, HL2-Ep2 (and lots-o-Counter Strike Source) - but I am still confused by the planned completion of the HL story. Are we to expect HL2-ep3 to be the end of the HL story? - or are their actually plans for a HL3? - and if so, is HL3 supposed to end the story? I love the games and the story, but if they do not end it as some point, it will certainly go stale.

while I have lover The Half-Life Series since Release day One when i had no idea waht it was or what it was about, (I really Like the BOX and never turned it over to look at the back. I just bought it with out looking.) and have been a loyal Fan since then. I agree with you 100% at some point the games Arch must end somewhere and it must answer at least 75% of the questions it left open.
However I have a feeling Episode 3 will not be then end of Half-Life. But rather Set up the end game. Wher instead of being one the Defence as we where in HL1 and bing on the outside braking in ala HL2 This time we finally Are 100% comitted on the offence, and finally finish the war we found our selves in the middle of.
I personly have a gut feeling, Episode 3 will complete the Aftermath end of the HL2 end of the story. but like said above. it this was Hl3 Then the game should have been called Half-Life 3: Episode 1-3, Then again, VLAVe Like to misdirect it player in it's game, who's to say they wouldn't be above a little misdirection of the fans by saying "Hay Everyone! HL2:E2 is HL3 in small bite sized chunks." me personally, If my company was attacked by hackers leaking my game like HL2 none episodal was, I would tell the world we're not working on HL3, but we are not leaving you with out a conclusion. Here are some smaller works. to hide the fact that while the episodes are in development so is the gathering ofthe teck and features of HL3 in secret.
the Episodes get the pressure of being the announced game they are working on and the secret project is being worked on at the same time. Since Source is so Modular in nature. I bet that all the cool features they are making for episodes is more like a testing ground for features planned for a massivly updated Engine later for a HL3.
At least thats what I would do if I was VALVe and suffered a Hack like they did with their Iconic Game that made their company what it is today.
All and All I really enjoyed the game. I was crushed, litterly Bowing in my head in mourning the loss of such an important character to the series. Well worth the wait, and We find out, The G-Man is not a figment of our Overly stressed minds in HL1. Eli confirmed it. G-Man was all over the place and other confirmed it.
my main complaint is. Driving was still a bit awekard for me. I do like that in HL2 and it episodes that your steering and looking are indapendant from each other meaning you can look around while driving. it still was a bit tough especilly with the speeds teh new Car can reach. And i love the look and of that car.
Any one know what that car was modeled after or the closet real world equivilent of that body? I'de love to build me something like that for a bit of fun.
a single word fron Grodon Freeman will in fact destroys worlds. Then again so can pushing a crystal into The anti-mass spetromiter. I just hope Gordon stays mute forever.

Ok,I played Ep 2 in 5 hours and Portal in 4.5. I still think for all the delays we had to deal with the game could have been longer. (oh well) I still think the best game is HL2(musta played 30 times) but Ep 2 is a close second. The fact that valve added a vehicle into Ep 2 makes the whole game rock. Getting the car in the game though stank. But the last part (won't spoil) was TOTALLY AWESOME!! I wish they would make the next game with 4-wheeler. LOL. Keep up the good work Valve, cut the delays though.

while hl2:ep 2 was damn fine, i feel that the weapons have gotten to be a bit stale. maybe if they could add a new gun then it would be at least a bit more interesting.

E2 was a blast, salivating for E3 now. Pretty sure that was a 1970 Dodge Challenger 426 Hemi rather than a Charger. They both look pretty fairly similar (especially with what we had left to look at
), the Challenger is larger and the paint is a dead give away.

I have been playing the HL games since day one with Half-Life One. It is an awesome serious of games from Half-life to Half-Life 2 Episode 2. I love the story of HL2. I just finished HL2 ep2 and it took me about 7 hours to finish. I love how Valve lease us hanging. I just wish it didn't take so damn long to finish the games. Mind you the wait for Ep2 was well worth the wait, and the length was much better then Ep1 as well as the game play. Finishing Ep2 makes me want to play the whole series of games from start to finish.
I hope that some day soon the mod team that is making a really cool kick ass source version of HL1 will be finished soon. I love the old game but I don't love the old graphics even with the Blue Shift graphics pack. But to each their own.
I hope that Valve is working on a HL3. I hope HL3 can meet the expectations of HL fans. But for now, fans like myself will probably be eagerly awaiting Ep3 more then HL3.
I have one question. I don't know maybe I missed this but can anyone tell me what the f#$k happened to Barny? Where did he go?

just finished it.. damn, that was a really cool ending. I want EP3 badly! and I was so waiting to get on that ch****r at the end, but looks like we gonna have to wait to get on that ride.. argh,,,
by the way, Episode 3 will be the ending part of Half-Life 2, but no the ending of Half-Life saga. sooo, I guess we could hope for next HL installment after episode 3. I think that statement was given by Valve, that episode 3 is not the end of Half-Life series. At least I've read it somewhere.

To start HL2 Ep 2 was quite amazing thou i was dissappointed they did not elaborate more on the past of the half life story (even stating in a interview that "questions will be answered" ) but still a top game and after playing multiple times the ending leaves also leaves thhe thought of another important character dying due to eli's warning "at wat ever cost it must be destroyed".
I hope the next game shows more what happaned to the half life world while gordan was in stasis. they could show this by alyx telling him in the helicopter as they fly from place to place. Extremely excited about the 3rd episode coming hope its not a too long w8

I think kaysjays asked a good question above… what the Hell happened with barny. I honestly wanted to see him again in EP2 but I realize barny (Or at least a Semobalce there of) has been in every Official Half-Life Game/Exspansion and in a great many mods since day one HL1 and it's about time they let the poor guy have a day off. Still I wanna see Barny Grunged out and not in a Metrocop uniform next time we see him. Maybe in a Rebel Get up with slightly more Gear strapped to him desinating him ans a VIP on the Battlefield.
And I would really like to see him in EP3 as a character alot like Alyx has been in EP1 and EP2 so far. maybe as an addition to Alyx hanging out with Gordon lending his unique set of skill to the fights ahead.
I'm really not one to bitch about the Time it took to get EP2 to us. It took as long as it needed. To produse crap it take hardly any time at all. Half-Life anything from VALVe is not crap. each time it exspands one way or another on the tool set they are building up for more great games or better additions to the Half-Life series.
If it takes 2 years to see another Episode and 4 after that to see Half-Life 3, So be it in my books, it just means that A: I'll have to totally update my rig for the advancments in the Gaming Tech and B: the game will be a work of art.
Story has always been VALVe's Strong suit, and I'm glad they spared no exspences to build yet another great story to add to the Half-Life Series.
On another note:
My friend and I are thinking EP3 may actully take place in Syberia (Sorry if it really badly spelled) From where City 17 is likely to be, And the fact that Mossman took a chopper flight to the local in a short ammount of time. Means that while high north in an area of ice and snow, it does not have to mean Artic regions. Not sure if Syberia is counted as Artic or not. just that in a chopper fule would be made all the more difficult to aquire and it would be no short trip eighter way to fly up to any where in or near that area.
anywho. I been doing a little looking and research… it deffintly look like a dodge back end. Challanger like one person already said is the closest match i could find. not sure of the year can any one guestimate from the paint? I'm guessing 68 but I may be wrong.

every one of us seems to be a decorated fan, so please learn at least the spelling of the names of Alyx, Gordon, Barney, and so on. Borealis would have been in hl2, serving as the apex of the game, but were cut due to lack of time, gameplay issues, and the leak in 2003. The leaked version had a very rough and incomplete map of the ship 'Borealis', located somewhere in the arctic, so gordon's intergalactic rage most likely to be spared for after episode three.

The car in E2 is an old dodge challenger (very good replication, I'd say '68)
Their will be a HL2:E3 for sure
I'd guess that aperture labs will be involved for sure, Combine has been the hunt for portal transport technology (HL2 brought up)
But I wold assume HL3 will run under an even more sophisticated engine than Source
Think about, HL was sophisticated technology in its time, and promoted one of the most unique storylines ever told
HL2 comes about, with a new branch of technology (original) and expanded the storyline more
HL3 will surely have to be the conclusion, and get even more sophisticated
Not too many games stories go past 3 stories, and it is a gamble to go beyond
I'd say HL3 will satisfy the conclusion (the fate of humanity will be on the line for sure in HL3)

OK i first played half life when my dad introduced me to it , ever since then
ive been attitctd to it , as well as that Ive played Half life 2 and ep 1
, ive seen entire gameplay of ep 2 an pretty much know alot from ep 2 even when i stil need to play it ( might be getting it for xmas), anyway In Ep3 Its not the end , i mean c'mon they still need to exsplain alot about the borealis,Gman,
The Truth and alot more , if it was the end then it will have alot of chapters meaning it'll Take a VERY long time,i believe that ep3 isnt the end and if ur confused on what i mean by " The Truth " If u ever Played up to the ending boss Nilith(sp)You'll know what i mean. As cool as that idea seems Maniac, you've gotta remember that, at the end of Portal, the girl is lying on pavement, and you can see forests from where you are. The borealis is stuck in ice. I mean, sure, maybe HL2:E3 could lead us there, but judging by how the story has been made up to this point, I'm thinking the borealis may be the only Aperture science-based place we're going to.

I'de have to agree with him on this one. At the End it was all forest and Chainlinked fence with debris of "GLaDOS" all over the place. It didn't really give us a whole of of clues where she ended up after killing GLaDOS. Sure, that Location Could be Somewhere out side of City 17, Maybe even close enough that Barney might pick her up. She could be Colorado east of the Rockies for all we know, and yes there are Many refrances of "The People who are still alive" all over the place and not just in the uber friendly End credits song.
The Fact is, There May not actully be any now hand held weapon. I think they should and some home reintroduse Barney into the story and Say "Hay I found this girl waungering around the wood by the train I took out of City 17. She Kinda reminds me of you gordon." but that would be just way to cheese factor to me…
Still we have no idea what time peirod eighter game takes place. We're not even 100% sure where eighter game is taking place, and all we know is Apiture is mentioned in HL2:E2 and Black Mesa is refranced on slide projector in Portal.
there is a small connection but I doubt enough to bring a portol gun into the HL2 story. But here's an intresting fact. Ever Tried IMPULSE 101 in portal? they didn't strip the HL2 Weapons from the Game… They just added 1 new slot for the portal gun.

I have been a fan of the HL series since I was introduced to it a while ago, and it is my fav series to date. The ending to EP2 almost left me crying, though I have vortiguants will be playing another key role in EP3, hehe.
Anyway, pretty sure I read in one of them gamin' magazines that the three episodes will eventually culminate into Half Life 3. Can't wait.

I think it's given that EP3 will take place on the ship called the BOREALIS. What few people know is that "Aurora Borealis" translates to the "northern lights". Any speculation that EP3 will take place in space is complete rubbish. Judging only from very little evidence it will be placed on a derelict research ship in the arctic region. But some questions arise from these few facts…
Is the ship really derelict? Probably not, theres got to be something there.
What was the ship doing in the arctic in the first place? Is there something of importance there which Black Mesa did not know about?
Finally, what happened to the ship? In EP2 there is speculation that it is in it's current state probably due to lack of safety precautions during experiments, if this is the case we should be expecting more creatures that were set free in the very beginning of the HL story. There may be other life out there other than the Combine.
Its all about reading between the lines.
I eagerly await EP3 to know the answer to all of these questions.

At the end of portal u see a forrest right so there could be a connection between the area in half life 2 but i have a theory y at the end would a tornado like ending to finish GLaDOS off and through u into the air so remember just a guess couldnt they somehow see the explosion from the helicopter (if alyx and gordan are near her) and come check it out so u check out aperture labs where they could find the portal chik. lead on from there or u could like ninja krow said get either barney or judith to find her and let her take u to where u hav to go. But what do u think would fit more to elis warning the portal gun or GLaDOS a super computer
so many plots that could go with this story line.

I think episodic content was the best thing the half life series it makes me feel like im reading a good book or watching a good series on tv. With episodic games the story line seems to come out and play a role in the game so it seems like more than just mindless killing, like when you where fighting the striders in EP3 the whole time I was thinking of what eli was gonna say about the G-man unlike halo whare you just want to skip the whole movies so you can get back to killing people with the energy sword.

all this is just my rtandom thoughts on the series i th ink the p0rtal and Half life serise will stay seprate for the most part and every once and a while touch bases but it would be very stupid of valve to put both games into one GlaDOS is apparently "still alive" and it seemed she was able to port herself into another series of bodies so im shure she will pop up some whare in the half life series. valve went out of their way to make shure you understood that p0rtal and half life where connected via it is every whare in portal projector, in GLaDOS's chamber it is also mentioned in the ending credits in half life it is GOING to play into the story line. apparently black mesa and appature science are mortal enemys so that will also play into the story… also if you cheat like me and do a noclip into the room with the projector in portal their is also another two graph bars that makes 6, 2 for appature 2 for black mesa and 2 for mabe another third party? more notes what happend to ALL the creatures of the old 3 half life games? all but the vorts barnicle and lithisaur or how ever you spell it.
here is a list of a few i remeber: the Garg, the pit worm, the pit drones, the zen version of the assissan (the one with the beetle gun and one eye in opposing force) the over evolved zombie that tossed acid balls from its chest, the bull squid, the evil spike tree that would kick your ass when ever you touched it,the one zen warrior that used the gun that shot hornets, the miniture ninorath or whatever, the big moma the thing that looked like a giant head crab, the claw tenticle and the giant claw tenticle (as seen in opposing force)im shure thats not all of them but as you can see only 90% of all the creatures that jumped to earth in the first 3 days lived so at some point valve must bring back atleast one of those old but not forgotten foes. also do you think the dood from opposing force will make a return? remember he was not killed he was put…. away for lack of better words. also if your a total freak like me and play half life on every console or computer their are also two seprate heros that went mostly untouched gordons two female counterparts gina and whats her face that made a dabew in the ps2 and slightly in the dreamcast version of half life 1 as side games for all those pure bred pc ppl remember the hasard suit how you were late to work and how their where two empty suspention areas to the left and right of your suit? yeah them. oh back to hl-ep3 the thing ant the ship cant be some sort of portal item because eli said that that if the combine get a hold of it we we all be screwed? that means that its a technology that nither black mesa or the combine have also their mabe a possibility of more rases because the combine are just one of many of the outer dimentional races and the combine seem more like the covinant of halo they talk over races and assimilate them, i've also notices that the combine havent shown their true faces the advisors are just advisors not leaders and the civil protection groop are just converted humans so the true face of the combine is yet to be reviled. I also get the feeling that breen is still alive but in, as he said: "a host body" so yeah i ahve alot of things on my mind now so im just gonna shut up and wait sorry for this spam and nagathon but i just want to get you people thinking

Ok just because your all retards i'll give you the REAL story (spoilers alert!)
aperture science are the rivals to black mesa and THEY built the borealis but in an effort to beat black mesa for goverment funding, the borealis got lost in the artic (and yes it is in the artic, it is a boat and the guys in HL2 Ep2 said the artic) now (ep2 spoilers alert) alyx and gordan are going to fly to the borealis and try to either destroy it or use it against the combine (not sure which) and valve (i think) are going to put the portal gun in EP3.
i've also heard rumors that they are bringing shepard back in somewere (RUMORS!!!! so don't have an orgasim just yet)
on an unrelated note: the borealis was originaly going to be in hl2 but since that asshole leaked it in 2003 they pulled it JUST LIKE THE KICKASS HYDRAS!
anyway i hope this cleared things up for you 8-year-olds who can't just look things up, even though you probabley just read the bottom because the bottom useually has the answers

Speaking of half-life 2 weapons, I'm expecting the portal gun to be integrated into episode 3. Apparently the Borealis was carrying aperture science materials, but if you've played portal, Valve had to intentionally link the stories for that reason. Anyway, I couldn't think of anything more awesome than having to kill combine soldiers with little more than a portal gun.

If anyone ever played the HL2 Missing Info mod it seems that the next event would take place somewhere in Antarctica. Because in the beta and the Missing Info mod their was the Borealis ship stranded in ice, it seems that Valve might be using the beta map of Borealis next in Episode 3. Just Google the Borealis in HL2 and you'll see some neat results.

I've played this map and it's huge, the ship is huge but nothing inside or anywhere in the map have any relation to Portal or the technology since it came from the beta, only the Portal Logo on the hall thats all, the ship is packed with Combine troops, headcrabs, and Stalkers. I liked the map and played it through, but there are actually 2 maps based off the ship, one where you cross the frozen tundra where the combine are posted throughout the map in small lookout posts and the Borealis is stuck in the ice and it's a little brighter outside and this one on the clip, so it's still kind of a mystery on how far you'll make it on the shopper before some unforeseen event happens and you find yourself crawling out of a shot down copter.

A good buddy of mine works for valve he said that before episode 2 was released they were already working out episode 3,the Valve team is about a month away from finishing the whole level of episode 3 so all that should be left is working out the glitches and popping in the game because its the "rough draft" as they call it. his guess is that everything will be actually finished around 4 months into 2008, he doesn't know what Valve wants to do for the actually release date for the public but it should be between April - June of next year. it's a long wait but worth it for such a great game. should be the best episode yet, i don't want to ruin the surprises for ep. 3, but there will indeed be some new weapons that should be quite entertaining to play with, enjoy

I dunno but it seemed to me after playing the english version of hl2 ep2 , that the female voice giving orders to the combine sounded a bit like the one of glados … I know I'm probably wrong but maybe portal took place during the HL1 timeframe and now the combine are using the stuff developed by aperture science ?
In any case I'm pretty sure that "the girl from the test" dies at the end of portal

To note calgar this could change but there was an interview with the HL2 Ep3 story/plot designer that the girl from portal will play an important role in the half life series but this could also mean either half life 3 or HL2 Ep 4
or half life (aperture labs or something) so im 85% sure she will be in the next HL2 ep plus has anyone listened to gladoos that she calls the girl an android need to look into that. But all in all expect the unexpected theres no meaning what they could pull and all ideas that ive heard would be awesome and hope this goes stright to ps3 aswell.

Just been thinking about the G-Man…in the games he is made out to be a mysterious, sinister spectator in humanities survival. The words spoke about him by another Mesa survivor indicate he is to blame for the portals storms, with him supplying the item, and also essentially enslaving Freeman portrays him as a 'villian', which i saw him as in up to the end of HL2,Ep2. The fact he rescued someone else during the Black Mesa incident, albeit on his terms, also his attempt to caution a character (unfortunately, nothing could be done.) and him agreeing to 'abide by certain restrictions' suggests to me he is actually trying to save humanity from the combine.
Instead of kidnapping Gordon, he could of protected him from the Combine by putting him into statis, until awakening him at a time when Freeman could make a difference, his words at the start of HL2 'the right man in the wrong place can make all the difference in the world' make me feel that way.
Sorry for the essay, the idea of the G-Man being good has been bouncing around in my head for a while. Any thoughts?

Valve has made it clear that these are the remainder of the story that was never reached in the actual game Half-Life 2. They have mentioned that Half-Life 3 is most likely already in the works (hence the two year episode 2 delay). As for what this means for the resolution of who the G-Man is we don't know. (although it is slowly becoming more prominent a theory that the G-Man is in fact G(ordon free)Man). Well, you decide

Ok back on topic…just finished episode 2 (ending was probably the best ive ever seen in a game)…Half Life is teh shit! xD cant wait for the next installment! (where hopefully valve will bring back the super gravity gun..ahh how i miss hurling those combine bodies around…)

Well it seems that we have a couple of very witty people on the forum. Well hopefully saying that the so called planning of selling Portal and Half life 2/2 most likely has no connections. I will have connections to half life 3. At least I hope they do, or continue with the puzzle FPS games. Just for an after thought imagine if they made a Half Life movie!

Okay here's some info for some of the morons out there who repeatedly insist that there is going to be a Half-Life 3.

There is no HL3, the episodes (1,2, &3) are episode three. And if you'll notice the very bottom of the article, you also shouldn't be expecting a HL movie anytime soon. Personally I think it would be horrible (can you imagine Gordon talking?). Anyway, really now people, this article is a year old and it is the first listing when you Google 'Half Life 3'. I really wish people would do their research.

the movie might not happen thats just what everyone wants but if they did they wouldnt make gordon freeman speak du to how it would properly cost less to use however they do as an actor if they go in that direction or if it is highly animated like final fantsy style it would make everybit of him easier to make
Who cares if they do make a movie playing the games except for half life 1 feel like a movie half the time anyway

sorry for going back up the thread but. im pretty sure portal is so posed to be during the hl1 time. because o the slid shows for competing between them and black mesa. but since everyone seemed to disappear there is some room for time offset. but the odd thing is the portal tech is much like the combine tech with the plug ins and turrets. so the combine using aperture sciences tech seems reasonable. thats just my theory. take it or leave it.

It would make a lot of sense if portal took place during hl1 timeline becasue there is no invidence that suggested that black mesa was still running (obliviously because of random aliens popping up everywhere destroying the place)and portal was still competing with them like nothing haad happened but as usual i could be wrong
