Utah’s Internet Not For Porn

Nothing against those folks who live in Utah, but… OMG? (/me looks at drivers license) It seems the Utah legislature is working on deal for Utah ISPs to ensure that minors do not have access to explicit material on the internet. EFF has a nice little piece all about it and I quote, “Giving ISPs the responsibility and incentives to censor a particular subset of the web is precisely the same architecture that the Chinese Communist Party uses for their “Great Firewall of China”. The communists use it to filter news and political information as well as porn — but in neither case is it particularly effective. Users who are either knowledgeable or motivated quickly learn that there are easy ways around these filters.â€
The story goes on to also place a ban open Wi-Fi networks to make them illegal. Now what am I going to do for internet access?

Its going to start with the internet, and pretty soon we aren’t going to be able to do anything without gov’t interference.
WOW. No WIFI??? I will absolutely cry if that is the case. That will be the second reason to move from Utah.
