UT3 Demo HotFix for XP64 & 2k3

It seems during the excitement of getting the Unreal Tournament 3 “Beta Demo” to the masses, Epic didn’t quite thoroughly test the executable on Windows XP 64 or Windows Server 2003 operating systems. It seems many of those users were left scratching their heads yesterday when presented with an error message denying them play. Today, balance in the universe has been restored. Epic has sent word:
We created a fix for the game not starting up on Windows XP 64 and Windows Server 2003 systems. This patch has not undergone the same amount of QA as the released demo so I strongly encourage to ONLY replace the UT3Demo.exe with the one from the patch if you are experiencing the “Modified executable code is not allowed” issue at startup.

Assuming you didn’t already nuke the demo from your hard drive, a small 9.5MB download will solve all your problems. If you haven’t been able to even install the demo, there is a workaround here.

how das this work becus if I start it I can stil play not
First make the following changes:
1) Click on Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools -> Local Security Policy
2) Right click on Software Restriction Policies and select New Software Restriction Policies from the popup menu.
3) Left click on Software Restriction Policies, right click on Enforcement, and select Properties from the popup menu.
4) Under Apply software restriction policies to the following users: click All users except local administrators. Click the Apply and OK buttons – you should now be able to install the UT3 Demo
Then download the xp64 patch. Copy the file UT3Demo.exe over the original file found in C:\Program Files (x86)\Unreal Tournament 3 Demo\Binaries\
The program should now run correctly on your XP64 machine.
Cheers for the info and the link
getting a wxmsw262u.dll needed error message:
—————————
UT3Demo.exe – Unable To Locate Component
—————————
This application has failed to start because wxmsw262u.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

OK

Got it to work… You need to down load the file:
UT3Demo-XP64-2K3.zip – ZIP archive, unpacked size 28,032,080 bytes
and replace the
“C:\Program Files (x86)\Unreal Tournament 3 Demo\Binaries\UT3Demo.exe”
with the zipped UT3Demo.exe file.
Worked for me.
Thanks for the patch, and the info, Dennis.
Wat een verbeteringen.
Ik speel af en toe UT2004, UT2004 is niets vergeleken met UT3.
De gameplay, grafisch, geluiden, echt een onwezenlijk mooi spel.
Ik ga ‘m nou even bestellen.
