Next time you’re connected to Xbox Live and pop in an HD DVD, you’ll be prompted to download an update for your ill-fated console peripheral. It doesn’t do much, so far as we can tell, but the fact that Microsoft hasn’t completely abandoned the notion of supporting the once highly priced HD DVD player makes the format’s death slightly easier to accept.
Major Nelson reports that the update includes compatibility improvements with certain titles and additional support for network features.
The update will be made available on Xbox.com later this week for download, should you not have access to Live.
