By letting me (your email here) to register an account with Electronic Arts (EA) in the United States you agree to the following,
1. You have the right to ban my for anything I say or do in your forums.
2. If such a ban occurs and I get banned from all my EA multiplayer accounts you must reimburse me 2 fold (200%) over and above the original retail price of said games.

I was okay with EA buying up every gaming company out there, and even their ludicrous anti-piracy software. But this. This is over the line.

Add my name to the list of people who will no longer be buying any EA game.

Read the ToS better before blindly clicking “I agree” it states that you don’t actually own the game, right in the first main paragraph:

“A. Grant. Through this purchase, you are acquiring and EA grants you a personal, non-exclusive license to install and use the Software for your personal, non-commercial use solely as set forth in this License and the accompanying documentation. Your acquired rights are subject to your compliance with this License. Any commercial use is prohibited. You are expressly prohibited from sub-licensing, renting, leasing or otherwise distributing the Software or rights to use the Software, except by transfer as expressly set forth in paragraph 3 below. The term of your License shall commence on the date that install or otherwise use the Software, and shall end on the earlier of the date that you dispose of the Software; or EA’s termination of this License. Your license will terminate immediately if you attempt to circumvent the technical protection measures for the Software.”

They just have a new system of enforcing their ToS. Sure, it’s a bit of a dirty way of doing it, but if you don’t agree to that ToS, then just don’t install and don’t buy

Besides, even if you do get banned for profane language and insulting other members then it’s your own fault for not finding more mature and peaceful means of resolving your conflicts/issues.

See how far you get if you mouth off to everyone around you and at work, or break the laws. It’s the same thing more or less, just different context.

I understand that people lose the right to play online/multiplayer games if they cheat but this… can’t be true can it? I mean… can EA guys who decide things really be that stupid?

I think game forums would be a nicer place to be with a few actual consequences. It would seem EA is just choosing to restrict its customer base to those who are civil rather than vulgar on their forums.

Kinda like being kicked out of a bar for starting a fight – even if you’ve paid for the beer you didn’t finish – and not being allowed back in. You’re welcome to go to another bar, of course.

Exactly Stephany. This is especially true if the game is a single player game.

You may be banned from online play but if they start banning people from single player gaming as well then they have crossed a line.

We really need better legislation on what companies can and cannot do. I thought what we had was good but apparently I was wrong.

Secondly, it does not matter if it is something new or not. If I call someone a fucking idiot in a forum and tell them that they should go have rabid sex with a herpes laden half monkey hooker, and get banned – I should still be able to play a game I spent over 50 bucks on. No matter how big of an inconsiderate idiot you are or how much of a tool you are, if you paid for a game you should be able to play it.

Also.. “they will start loosing more money than they ever dreamed.” is incorrect.

Loose = losing weight, something not being tight

Lose = to be defeated, to come to be without

There’s a marked difference.
