Uncharted on 360? Not a Chance

Rumors on the internet just never seem to die, even though a lot of them should quite easily. Somehow, some gamers seem to grasp onto one tiny thing that a developer said at one point and blow it up all over the internet into “OMG! [Game] being ported to teh PS3/360! OMG! OMG!” That’s why PS3 owners are still begging for BioShock on their system and why, recently, Xbox 360 owners have been saying Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune might be coming to the Xbox 360. Recently, Ripten posted an article explaining how the rumors began when Evan Wells, co-president for Naughty Dog, was asked about the hypothetical implications of a port in an interview. The article then makes a lot of good points on why the technological differences between the two systems could make a port difficult, but doesn’t highlight one very important point, so I will: Naughty Dog is owned by Sony. It’s mentioned as a little side note at the end, but it seems to me like that bit of information would render all technological discussion moot. I actually interviewed a producer with Sony, Sam Thompson, at PAX this past summer. Here’s the relevant part of that discussion:
GT: Is that high-level of animation the reason you went with the PS3 as the system for the game?
[Thompson]:Well, to be honest with you, Naughty Dog is wholly owned by Sony, so the only games that would come out from Naughty Dog would be for the Playstation 3.
So there you have it. Naughty Dog is currently only developing games for the PS3, because they’re now a subsidiary of Sony and have been since 2001 (according to their Wikipedia page). Even if they wanted to, even if there were no technology issues, it wouldn’t matter; they’re owned by Sony, and they’re only making games for Sony’s system. Deal with it, people.
I’m of two minds here, one side of me is happy that the PS3 got a great title, the other side thinks that Naughty Dog should get their due from gamers where applicable. If it’s possible, I don’t have any problems with seeing a port to the 360, however, if it’s a dumbed down crappy port that follows along what Evan Wells said about it being almost a wholy different game…I’d think that most 360 owners would pass anyway… The game is really great though, and if it can go to 360, so be it. Naughty Dog deserves the recognition.

I own every system out their besides xbox products. I think that theirs no way in hell 360 should get this game. I dont have it yet i plan on getting it for christmas but its time 360 get thier own games. They took Gta 4, Smackdown vs. raw series and many other games un named. ps3 has more games just for this one system. Resetnce, restence 2, Drakes fortune, heavenly sword, Metal gear soild 4, motorstorm, motorstorm 2, Ratch and clank, Socum us. navy, Grand Turismo 5, This huge upcoming game mag where their 256 players online in a all out war and a whole lot of even more upcoming games including Dc Universe online only for ps3. We have way more and better games just for the ps3 then 360. Lets face it Gears of war isnt as fun as restence and to top that off gears of war is also for the pc so does that even count for them having that one game for their self? Now i see why they want all of our games Halo is ok i think so but what other games do they have. ……… Think about it ……. your done? The graphics for 360 i feel sucks. If u actually look you can see a something like a extra layer on their cloths where you dont see that on the ps3. Ex: Gta 4 and Pure You got to pay to go online for 360. ps3 is free, you got to use wired connection for 360 or you hace to pay to buy alot for wireless adapter where ps3 is built in wireless. It has blue ray and 360 only haves DvD or hd DvD which still you cant compare at all to blue ray. Its a proven fact just like micro soft computers all microsoft cares about is making something good enough for the money which is 360. Not better and where you have to pay a little more for the ps3. That’s exactly why apple computer is better. That’s exactly why sony is better the products are high price but don’t dissapoint you. Their looking to the future by having blue ray and 360 is just trying to have good enough by having hd dvds. Anyways my point is 360 is over rated. The only reason why people think the 360 is better because they know ps3 is better but they feel just because they have they gotta defend it. People lets really think about it. Most of the people that own a 360 i bet about 80% of the time had a ps2 before. Though they decided to go to xbox 360. 3 reasons. 1. 360 is cheaper, 2. 360 came out a 1 year before 3. they wanted a next gen system but couldnt find seem to find the ps3 in stores. Everyone know this is the truth.

Wait, when was fanboyism telling the truth? All YungT said was fact. I have a PS3 and Wii. My brother has a 360. All you guys have are Gears of War 2 (1st is on PC, Halo 3, Castle Crashers and Fable II. Those are the only games EXCLUSIVELY on the 360 to have a 9 or above… And Dead or Alive 4. But some of those games are bound to go on PC and Case Crashers on NEwGrounds. You guys can keep your glitchy ass GoW, tyvm.
And… PS3 has over 20 titles exclusively on the system over 9 or above. Twenty more to come over the past two years, nifty, huh?

Just because your brother owns a Xbox doesn’t mean your can make an unbiased opinion like it seems you tried to do. Johnathan you know nothing I own all three big systems and a ds and psp. I play games more on my xbox 360 then any other console the games that come out for both systems will reguarly play better on my 360 then the ps3 take skate 2 for example the texturing was blocky and slow to load at times while on the 360 it ran smoother and load times were faster this is a fact many games run the same way. Ok heavenly sword and drakes fourtune were awsome games but I can also play assisins creed and devil may cry 4 on 360 and have just as much fun. 360 is getting a metal gear solid….and final fantasy 13 so what? Those were playstation exclusives now look where they are also comming when the new generation of consoles comes out you will be wasting your mony on tech like blu ray when I can download that media cheaper and play it as many time as I want you won’t even be thinking of blu ray 5 years from now except how much you wasted buying those overly expensive movies some ranging used game prices of 39.99 for a single movie rediculas the biggest waste of money was the ps3 its a blu ray paperweight. Think about this you buy a wii you get classic games to download you get updated classics to play and some pretty cool motion sensing, you buy a 360 you get a dvd player a media center connector for your pc, you get premium movies and music videos to download on demand and netflix instant que plus you get a great list of arcade games and xbox orignals and a great list of games far out stretching that ps3, and you buy a ps3 you get what? Blu ray?? That’s it that’s all I use mine for that’s all anybody uses theirs for admit it its ok to say you play games on your blu ray player kinda like I play games on my cell phone easy as that sony fanboys……

I’ve played both 360 and PS3, i play my 360 a lot more because it just has a much better online gaming experience and many of my friends have xbox live. I must say that Uncharted is my favorite PS3 game and probably the only game on that system that I can say I played for hours. There is nothing wrong with either system and both give you what you pay for. It’s just nice to have both so you can get all of the exlusive titles. The only reason the Wii has more exclusives then anybody else is because all you can make for it is shitty ass waggle games.
i can put the fanboyism to rest. there are no hardcore games out for wii, xbox360, or ps3. save up ur allowances and get a real PC
