Uncharted is Bloodless in Japan

If you live in Japan, chances are you aren’t reading this. Still, if you live in Japan and happened to pick up Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune for PS3, you may have noticed the lack of blood in the game. While it’s not unusual for a game to be censored in this way for its Japanese release – Resistance is one other PS3 game that’s a similar case.
Kotaku is reporting that – regardless of the region the game was produced in – Japanese PS3s will censor the game. While there were methods for getting around Resistance’s censorship, Uncharted seems to have itself covered. Note that parental controls apparently have nothing to do with the matter, and it’s simply a matter of Japanese PlayStation 3s if this forum thread is to be believed.
While it must be rather odd shooting people and not see blood come out, Uncharted is so good, that, who really cares?

Eh? Are all Japanese games censored like this?
Ninja Gaiden 2 on the 360 is gonna be f****d if they are
One could argue that no blood = desensitized players, as the reaction to their action is made inconsequentiel in regard to their being no bloodshed to a fatal injury in the game, thus the players not realizing the harm such an action would inflict. This could cause more violent behaviour than a game like Rockstar’s Manhunt. Just sayin’. And yes, there is a little more than a hint of sarcasm in this comment.
Ninja Gaiden 2 is going to be bloodier’n hell here the States. In Japan? Not so much! So don’t worry about it.

If you want to use that argument you are admitting there is a link between game violence and real world violence. Why would game violence need to have consequence if there is no link?
Personally I dont think there is much of a link but I just prefer violence in films or games to have realistic consequences for the simple reason that it looks a bit dumb if it doesn’t.
