The Transport Safety Administration is responsible for security at every public airport nationwide. It’s important that they keep their skills sharp. Keeping these skills sharp allows them to stay on top of problems plaguing our airports. For example, the TSA would never have known I like to wear socks with holes in them, if not for the stern lady at LAX that insisted I remove my shoes.
How do they keep these skills sharp? Video games. “Serious games are becoming coveted training tools throughout academia, government and industry,” says the TSA in their Serious Games Initiative. Not only that, but they maintain that since games are considered fun, it makes the training less tedious for the employees. Maybe so, but I bet that once you get to level 10 of the ‘Take Off Your Shoes’ mission, it gets a little repetitive.
