Trouble With Pajamas: Preventing ‘The Darkness’ Glitch

I have beat the game finally and discovered a definite glitch. During Chapter 3 after talking to Jimmy, your accept an offer to wack Pete “Pajamas” in room 261. Your goal is to wack him in a room full of cops and grab his list of rats to bring back to Jimmy. When you receive this mission, it is absolutely necessary to complete this before talking to your aunt.  I waited for the mission and decided to talk to the aunt first and then go wack Pete. For whatever reason, that causes the mission to glitch and you cannot complete it.
If you have already beaten the game, just start over at Chapter 3 and talk to Jimmy and do the mission. If you are already past Chapter 3 and haven’t beaten the game, you might as well just wait until you do.
Strange, I found I was unable to talk to Jimmy without speaking with Aunt Sarah first. After having done so everything progressed as normal.
