Toys “R” Us To Drop Xbox 360 Price

I think we can consider the $50 price cut on the Xbox 360 official now that it has also surfaced in an upcoming Toys “R’ Us advertisement in addition to the Wal-Mart ad I mentioned earlier today. I’m sure this price cut is part of a response to Sony’s recent moves and perhaps also a way to try and slow down Nintendo’s momentum.
If they continue to drop prices, people may also start forgetting about the entire “red ring of death” fiasco.

of course prices allways drop when i buy things…
i just bought a 360 like 4 days ago
I know what you mean. The same thing happens to me it seems.
just take it back with your receipt and get your money back then rebuy the console and save the 50$ if you got it 4 days ago most stores offer what at least a 15-30 day return policy.
If you bought it four days ago you could have gotten the deal at Toys R’Us where they were giving free $50 gift certificates with a purchase of the xbox 360…making it effectively $350. Its on the add on their site and ended on July 28th. I missed that one too, though talking to a sales person today they said their new flier comes out this weekend and from what she was saying made it sound like this price drop is real, at least for them.
For clarification, I’m not the last Matt that posted. Different Matts, dang common names.
I wonder if maybe its still a misunderstanding. After all, if you’re Wal-mart, and you see Toys ‘R’ Us having a sale, you might thought your own sale out there. After all, for most people, a Wal-mart is easier to get to, but not $50 easier.
So Wal-mart annouces a cheaper 360 and Toys keeps its $50 lower price.
It’s a huge leap to think it might be the case, but you never know. I’ve not seen any commercials saying there’s a sale going on, so its more likely that there is a price cut comming up very soon, and Microsoft isn’t going to say there is, since it would hurt their sales before the cut.
Hopefully they aren’t going to pull a Sony, get their rings of death consoles out of the way, and then replace them with consoles that work at the old price. It would be a sad day to see that happening, indeed.
true..that wouldn’t be right. My 360 died a while back. I didn’t want to wait for them to return it, so I picked up an Elite and then gave the old one to my girlfriend’s son. The Elite has a different motherboard and different heat sinks, etc. I also believe the fans are different on it.
The one thing that still bothers me is that the actual problem is still a big secret. Sure, tons of people claim they know exactly what it is, but they all say something different. Microsoft needs to eventually come clean with the precise problem. Maybe they don’t even know the exact problem, but I find that hard to believe.
