valve Top 5 Developers of 2007 Gamasutras Picks

Gamasutra has presented its Top five picks of the year’s best developers and the games that really show their mettle. The list is pretty predictable, but these companies have earned their place in the limelight.

We’re picking top developers for their attention to detail, grit, and willingness to push the envelope, not necessarily simply on the finished product’s overall quality – though all of this year’s Top 5 Developers have worked on spectacular titles.

Although there may be some debate as to which company should fall where on the list, I believe most gamers will agree on most of the choices.

  1. Valve Software (The Orange Box)
  2. Harmonix (Rock Band/Phase)
  3. 2K Boston/Australia (BioShock)
  4. Bungie (Halo 3)
  5. BioWare (Mass Effect)
