Tomlinson Turned Down Madden 2008 Cover

Ladainian TomlinsonIt turns out that maybe Vince Young wasn’t at the top of EA’s list for the cover of Madden 2008. As we told you earlier this week, Vince Young will appear on the cover, and EA’s Chris Erb said, “Vince was the guy all along.” But, that may not be exactly true. CNBC is reporting that the cover was first offered to none other than San Diego Charger LaDainian Tomlinson. LT didn’t turn down the spot because of the curse, but instead because of the distinct lack of money associated with it. Cover athletes are normally paid $100,00 – $200,000, and are required to make multiple appearances to hype the game.EA looks at the cover much like the front of a Wheaties box, where the honor of being on the cover is worth more than the actual monetary compensation. Apparently, LT disagrees, and I don’t blame him.
