One of my favorite Xbox Live Arcade games in recent memory, Ticket to Ride, will be getting an expansion pack next Wednesday. The game will be crossing the Atlantic for Ticket to Ride: Europe, which obviously includes a new environment to play in, as well as new gameplay elements such as tunnels, ferries, and train stations.

From the press release:

For those who haven’t had a chance to try Ticket to Ride on XBLA, it challenges players to plan cross-country rail routes across North America and now Europe, visiting all the city stops in-between. Although the game can be learned in under five minutes, players face strategic and tactical decisions that vary with every turn. The game supports play with up to five people on Xbox Live or four people on the same console and supports the Xbox LIVE Arcade Vision Camera for hours of family-friendly fun.

I’m really excited to check this new expansion pack. I haven’t gotten tired of plain old Ticket to Ride, but it’ll be nice to have some new options to mix the action up.

The press release makes no mention of a price, so presumably this is a free update for owners of the game — all the more reason to pick up the game if you haven’t already. If you need some convincing, check out my XBLA Hors D’oeuvres story on the game from last month.
