Three New Studies On Violence in Video Games and TV Shows

Once again the Federal Government has provided a grant to people who wish to study the effects of violence in television and video games on our psyche and social behavior. There are three- count them- three new studies on how violence is corrupting our youth and degrading our culture.
Once such study by Nicholas Carnagey and Craig Anderson of the Iowa State Psychology Department, along with Brad Bushman of MSU and Vrije University, Amsterdam concluded that quote:
“Exposure to violent video games increases aggressive thoughts, angry feelings, physiological arousal and aggressive behaviors, and decreases helpful behaviors”.
Okaaaaayyyyyyyyy. Furthermore, the FCC, our wonderful Overlords, wants to move violent content, even in cartoon form, to later evening hours on public and cable network stations to help shield children from what their parents are too lazy to do themselves. This form of censorship according to Caroline Frederickson of the ACLU is not acceptable, because as we all know, that is not Congress’ job. What their job is exactly, still remains to be seen, but I digress…
While the debate on violence in videos games and television will be polluting our ears until the Rapture, feel secure in the fact that – although fickle at times – the ACLU is on our side for the time being… until Rockstar comes out with a new GTA.

What scares me here is not the studies, but the fact I may be agreeing with the ACLU for once.
