THQ Announces Saint’s Row 2 for Next Year

THQ has announced that Saint’s Row 2, the sequel to the popular open-world game, will be coming to PS3 and Xbox 360 next year. The game will be developed by THQ’s internal studio, Volition, and will offer more customization options, an expanded city, new vehicles, sandbox tools, and both co-op and competitive online multiplayer. Says Greg Donovan, lead producer with Volition:
“Saints Row 2 has a much darker and more sinister story that leads your character down a path of betrayal, revenge and redemption against the city that has left him for dead, although we’ve blended that with the same light-hearted humor from the original. Couple that with the most robust open-world feature set ever developed in the genre, and Saints Row 2 promises a gaming experience that will offer players the perfect balance of gripping narrative and compelling gameplay options.”

It seems Saints Row is another one of those 360 exclusives I keep hearing about. You know, the ones that aren’t remotely in any way shape or form ‘exclusive’.
Well, the original one was exclusive. But then, it was reported it was heading to the PS3, but THQ canned that project to focus solely on Saint’s Row 2.
Back on the subject of the actual game and not if it’s exclusive or not, Saint’s Row was a great alternative to GTA and if THQ gets the timing right for this game, I can see it being another great distraction. Especially with the promise of online co-op.

and i definitly cant wait for the next one to come out 
theres going to be alot of compition from GTA 4 tho…thing I rekon will suck the most bout gta 4 will be that you cant change your guys physical appearance like his face and all. but what I found really good in Saints row, that was the ability to make ur character look like anyone u want, more games like GTA should encorporate this, it will make a game more fun in a way.

Hey does anyone know if the campaigne game of saints row 2 will be 2-player??
How wiked would that be!!. I know GTA SA had the single screen 2-player but that kinda sucked coz both players can only ocupy one vehicle at a time and all the stores and missions would lock so u cant access them….but if Saints row had the 2-player..obviously split screen and both players can hop into seperate cars and do the missions together would be hell awesome!!!!!
