This Video for Obscure: The Aftermath is the Most Messed Up Game Trailer Ever

Let me make this very, very clear: the new trailer for Obscure: The Aftermath is extremely NSFW. As in “not appropriate for work,” “shouldn’t be viewed by children,” and “those who are easily offended should just move right along.” Granted, there are numerous horror movies out there with much worse imagery, but in the usually tame world of game videos, this is probably the most messed up trailer I’ve seen. It’s like watching a bizarre student film cobbled together from different crime scene photos and then given a soundtrack of screaming mixed with a children’s choir; none of which tells me anything about the game itself, except that it certainly earns that “M” rating. That said, you can view the trailer here; just don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Now that we’ve got that out of the way, does anyone out there feel this goes too far in terms of shock imagery? Or am I just a little too sensitive given the video game industry’s numerous run-ins with the decency police?

was it really that bad at all?

did we see the same trailer? lulz

It looked like there was some live action stuff in there though, what was that?

idk, looks like a cool horror game though

Boooring. It reminded me more of a mid-90's FMV adventure game. It was also very, very tame compared to your description.

You know, there is a reason why this series of games is called "Obscure". It's because they're so rubbish.

  • Daniel says:

Wow, I don't know how you guys grew up, but that was a pretty disturbing video to me. Especially since this game is going to be on the Wii.

Do you guys murder and skin people alive on a daily basis?

  • Kev_M says:

urgh, its going to be the manhunt 2 scenario all over again.
    Dont these people learn.

  • DeathDream says:

@Kev, yes they know it will be. It's free publicity at its finest.

  • Zom says:

I must admit I was pretty shocked by the initial violence.

Obviously, the most terrifying part of this video is the horrible FMV/acting… (Seriously, didn't we get past this in the 90's?)

Anyway, the game looks cool. The Wii needs an intense horror title that isn't RE4.

The Obscure series has always been dreadful. The fact that they need this amount of violence and sex to sell the new game proves this. Can we please ignore the game and send it BACK into Obscurity.

  • voythas says:

Horrible… Too bad, because Obscure is awesome game.
For me it's more like an Obscure 2 trailer, because there were more scenes from that game mixed with real actors.

    Shame…

  • Basil says:

Baahahahahaaa. This was funny, not frightening.

The rape scene in the corridor was cute, though.

  • Stephany says:

WTF???? That was probably one of the most nonsensical, trailers I have ever seen, and I have seen many a silly trailer. Blair Witch meets Rob Zombie… what were they thinking? Anyone else think the chick in the red dress looked like Paris Hilton? That is what insulted me most about it.
