CD Projekt RED has announced good news for fans of The Witcher. Not only has epic RPG sold over 1 million units in the past year but if you look closely at the trailer posted below, you will notice what appears to be not only new “unknown” footage featuring our anti-hero Geralt from The Witcher, but other games in development from CD Projekt RED as well.
The company sure has a nice way of thanking their fans too, because just a few weeks ago they released The Witcher: Enhanced Edition which was free to existing players of the game. Granted, you had to start your game over again anew, but that was a small price to pay for the new content. Plus, this is only the beginning, because according to Michal Kicinski, co-founder of CD Projekt, they are just getting started:
“This is really just the beginning for us. There are a lot more places to explore in the world of The Witcher and there’s obviously a huge audience out there that would still love to see the game on consoles… we’re PC developers first and foremost, but you never know!… We’re also rather close to breaking our silence about the multi-platform project underway at Metropolis Software, in which we recently acquired a majority stake. Needless to say, we’re very excited about the future and we think gamers will be, too!”
Take this to mean that we can expect more adventures for Geralt, the Captain Kirk of the medieval world, in the future–and if you consider that the game sold 83,333 units per month this year alone, gamers are pretty pleased with their offerings. Those numbers are nothing to sneeze at, especially coming from a relatively unknown developer with an unknown IP.
