Electronic Arts have announced that The Simpsons Game has shipped in North America and will ship in Europe on November 2nd. Touted as the funniest, most irreverent, exciting and authentic Simpsons video game experience ever, Creator and Executive Producer James L. Brooks stated that: “Our hope is the number of solid jokes and the speed in which they come, set ourselves apart.”In 2007, The Simpsons celebrated their historic 400th episode, as well as the release of their first animated film, The Simpsons Movie, which has grossed over $520 million worldwide at the box office, hitting the No.1 slot in the first week. Now fans of this multi-award-winning television series are ready for the next major milestone: The Simpsons Game.
With parodies of the video game industry, pop culture and current events, fans who have played the demo have noticed that the same subversive humor and wit familiar to fans everywhere is also throughout the game. With over 40 minutes of new animated scenes by the show’s writers and over 8000 lines of in-game dialogue, The Simpsons Game has become one of the “must have” titles in a season filled with new games.
“The story is the heart of the game,” said Matt Selman, Simpsons Executive Producer and Head Writer of the Simpsons title. “The Simpson family realizes they’re living in an actual video game. At first, it’s fun having video game powers. But when life as a game character is harder then they thought, they must break out into the behind-the-scene world of video games. They must fight their way through parodies of other games in order to achieve their freedom.”
“Playing The Simpsons Game is like choosing which donut to eat. The fun lies in the wide variety, but no matter which way you go it always brings a smile,” said Scot Amos, Executive Producer for the game. “The close collaboration among Gracie Films, Twentieth Century Fox and ‘The Simpsons’ creative team makes this game a sweet addition to ‘The Simpsons’ legacy.”
Elie Dekel, Executive Vice President, Twentieth Century Fox Licensing & Merchandising, added: “When you team up one of the best video game companies in the universe with one of the best television shows of all time, you know you’re going to get a game that delivers. The Simpsons Game is a completely original creation that adds to The Simpsons’ enduring legacy.”
The Simspons Game will be available for the PS2, PS3, PSP, Nintendo DS, Wii, and Xbox 360 tomorrow, just in time for Halloween fun. Personally, I cannot wait to get my hands on my copy, and I am also pretty excited about my Homerball. I am keeping my fingers crossed that my dogs do not get a hold of it somehow.

The Simpsons Game is awesome, btw. I have not laughed this hard at a game since the last Simpsons game – nor been as frustrated at times. It is well worth the sticker price folks. I just wish my 360 had not died for the third time while playing it. Thanks microshaft.
