The Queen Of England Gets Hooked On Wii
By William on Sunday, January 6th, 2008 at 12:53 PM PST In Game Consoles, Nintendo, Nintendo

No one smart ever said video games were for young people only. Apparently the Queen of England has become hooked on the Nintendo Wii like many other adults around the world. Reports from inside the royal palace state that Prince William received a Wii for Christmas, but it’s his 81-year-old grandmother who has been playing it the most.
It may sound surprising that an 81-year-old Queen would be interested in modern technology, but apparently she has a fully loaded Blackberry, has an email account and has an iPod with over 100,000 songs on it. I’d sure love to see what kind of music she has on there. She sounds like a cool grandmother to me and the first Queen to become a video game addict that I have ever heard of.

Of all the monarchs in this country I’ve studied, she’s by far one of the best ones. Not to mention the fact that as a princess during World War Two she drove ambulances, but she also seems to make a lot of sense when talking and is pretty liberal when it comes to allowing documentaries inside ‘her’ grounds (ie. castles) etc. This doesn’t surprise me, though I do hope in the next christmas speech, we see it in the background. Mostly for comical effect.
The very idea that there are still “monarchs” is absolutely astounding to me.
….sorry for the off topic, but “royalty” is just a topic that absolutely baffles my mind. Royalty seems much like racism in that the idea that anyone is inherently better/worse or more/less deserving of special treatment than someone else is a bit revolting.
Although, I’m very glad she likes her Wii!
well.. the “royal” family from my understanding is more of a traditional thing for England and also very good for tourism. I’m not really sure what I think about royal families and all that, but she seems like a cool old lady at times.
No question, Elizabeth seems very nice. And yes, I’m sure it IS tradition, but so was slavery in a lot of places. A lot of people liked it quite a bit and it was fundamental to the economy in the south in the US, much like tourism is important to the UK economy. But in the end, she’s just like you and me, a regular person. “Royal” bloodlines are nonsense is my point.
QUICK, SHES GOING TO TURN INTO ONE OF THOSE VIOLENT SHOOTER CRIMINALS
Honestly, I just have to say that people who say that video games and such are bad only take extremists into account. Tahnks to the queen for setting a good example!
*Imagines*
Video games are bad. They turn people violent.
What about the Queen?
I have recently been to England and got to see the Queen in her official birthday parade. She’s a very sweet and caring monarch, from what I have heard.
As for used cisco’s comment about the royal family in England…
Just about everyone and their dog loves the royal family in England. It’s tradition there, and they all care about her an awful lot. Not only is it a tradition in England, but it’s also what the people want. She has very little authority in government so there’s not much there to debate. She’s just an icon in England, and a very sweet one at that. <3
