I'm not a Sims fan but I knew the moment it was mentioned that any movie based off of the Sims is just using the name. And the plot itself is a ripoff of the Stargate Atlantis season 3 episode "The Game" Where John and Rodney are playing an Ancient game and learn that what they are doing is having an actual effect on the population of a planet...
