I’m sure this has happened to every gamer. You get a new power-up/item/spell/whatever in a game and you excitedly try it out the first chance you get…only to be met with shattering disappointment. These moments provide valuable life lessons to young gamers, reminding them that just because it may be dressed up and come with a positive sound effect, that doesn’t mean it’s worth anything. Thus, 1Up has now run down a list of the most useless power-ups in video games. Anyone who’s played a few classic games has surely encountered these “power-ups,” so it’s worth a read if nothing else than to revisit some disappointing memories. Also it’s nice to see I’m not the only one who thought the Leaf Shield from Mega Man 2 was completely worthless.

How dare they put the Tanooki Suit on there?
you must wear the large testicle’d squirrel suit around your house
I would have liked to have seen the firey torch weapon from Ghosts N Goblins on NES. That thing was pretty useless. Also the “fire” weapon from Contra.
Sonic Boom in Bioshock.
In one of the Metal Gear games can’t you use Cigarettes to burn of leeches?
